New Sherlock Holmes Trailer

Sherlock Holmes Trailer 3 (Robert Downey Jr)
A new trailer for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming Sherlock Holmes is now online. The film is set to be released on Christmas Day, and I reckon all you people who make a habit of visiting the cinema on December 25th have got a treat in store for you this year, should you choose to watch Sherlock and his pals.

Starring Robert Downey Jr as the eponymous hero, Jude Law as his ever-reliable sidekick Dr Watson and Rachel McAdams as the love interest, it could potentially be a big box office hit. It definitely has a broad appeal with its A-list cast and with it being based on one of the most famous characters ever created. Also, Ritchie has said that it is a film which all the family can enjoy, and lets face it, family films are where the big money is at.

The trailer is very similar to the last one, I had to re-watch the first trailer to make sure it wasn’t the same one. But check it out anyway, I implore you.

I admit, I was originally sceptical, the idea of Guy Ritchie doing a modern take of Sherlock Holmes didn’t exactly make me pee my pants with excitement. But I have to say it looks fun, and from these brief snippets, the dialogue seems very punchy (not unlike Holmes himself). Also hats off to Robert Downey Jr for his impressive English accent, as a Brit myself I can say it’s one of the best I’ve heard from an American.

Robert Downey Jr. still doesn’t say Sherlock Holmes to me in any way shape or form. They should have just called this ‘Iron Man Goes To London’. If the trailer had ended with Gwyneth Paltrow walking through the door and Holmes saying “Pepper, what are you doing here?” it wouldn’t have seemed that out of place.

Why does Sherlock Holmes have to be about the undead? Does EVERY movie have to be PotC now?

All those old London scenes make it look like a Doctor Who Christmas special (minus the aliens).
I think my kids will love it (mind you, they love pokemon cartoons so that’s not saying much).

I just went to see this film when it was released yesterday, and I thought it was surprisingly good.
I had been hoping to like it, so maybe I was a bit prejudiced, but I cant help but think some people are a bit too harsh with it.
Its only a bit of fun, and while i understand that fans of the original books may not like it, in fairness, it would be hard to achieve something that would please everyone, and the big money is in a film like this that doesnt just appeal to the fans of the books.
I admit though that the editing was a bit choppy, and while the plot does finally hit you at the end, it’s sort of like chasing a roller coaster from the begining. No matter how much you run, the plot is always ahead of you, and you have absolutely no hope of catching up until it stops.
Props to Robert Downey Jr, he made an exciting film downright enjoyable.
