Percy Jackson & The Olympians – International Trailer

New Percy Jackson Movie Trailer (International) -The trailer for Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief has struck the same site twice – this time it’s the international version. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film stars Logan Lerman (3:10 to Yuma) and a host of well know actors including Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean and Uma Thurman.

The Lightning Thief is the first in a series of 5 books written by Rick Riordan about Percy Jackson, a troubled 12 year old kid whose life changes forever when he finds out his father is none other than Greek God Poseiden. But he’s not the only one who is born of divine blood, there are others like him, in fact there is a special school called Camp Half Blood where all these demi-gods can go and learn together. Sounds familliar I know. It’s no surprise that Percy Jackson has been touted as the new Harry Potter. The series has got a large following though, which is evident from the fact that the books have remained in the New York times bestseller list for more than two years straight.

Here is the trailer…

So apparently demi-gods can hold their breath for 7 minutes, what does that make David Blaine? I like how they use “From The Director of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” as a good thing and check out the new addition to the product placement hall of fame right at the end. Also notice how Pierce Brosnan has gone from being Bond to being Q, the one handing out the gadgety pens.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is released 12th February 2010.

Excellent trailer, ruined by the Apple product placement at the end.

This trailer is a lot more exciting than the first (always seems to be the way with international trailers lately) My kids would definitely want to see this.
It has the oppurtunity to be a lot more contemporary than Harry Potter. HP feels historical, like it is actually set in the past but from the look of the ipod flash at the end this trailer PJ is going to be much more current.

The concept seems very similar to a fun kids movie called “Sky High” just swap demi-gods for superheroes but again that was aimed at a younger audience than this seems to be.

Let’s hope its awesome, as we will need something cool to replace HP when that fades out.

Did I see Rosario Dawson in there? Okay, *anything* with her in it is good…well, almost anything, Alexander really sucked…

If the movie is anything like the book… it WILL be good!
Although it does have a HP feel to it, the book itself is much “cooler”, that is more contemporary, than HP, and it’s actually funny and full of action (without being cheesy). The characters are great, and if you love greek mythology (like I do), you’ll enjoy every second of it. I read the book in a day because I just couldn’t put it down, and now knowing that it’ll be a movie, I’m probably gonna read the book again just to refresh some of the ideas! :D

Percy jackson is more of a history lesson than HP. They changed Percy jackson from the books way too much…there’s even a website “Percy Jackson Fans Against The Movie”beacuse all the fans of the book (including me) are upset about the changes
