Ninja Assassin Soundtrack

Intrigue! A male voice choir! String sections! Oh, the strings! You pretty much need only glance at the track titles to get an idea of what the Ninja Assassin soundtrack is going to be like: Training, Mika’s Apartment, Kiriko Runs – personally I’d like to hear the track for Kiriko Has A Sit Down, but then Ninja Assassin isn’t a Mike Leigh film so perhaps I’m clutching at straws.

I literally have no idea what must go through the head of the person who walks into a Virgin Megastore and shells out their hard earned money for the Ninja Assassin soundtrack. I like to imagine a twenty five year old who works in PC World and brings home a slightly over-weight young lady after their first date (a late night screening of The Matrix Reloaded), showing her into his cramped apartment and asking her to wait whilst he boots up his CD player and, knowing it the be the most romantic track on the album, skips to Escape From Safehouse, as he unbuckles his slightly unfashionable hand-me-down Levis and sprays some eau de toilette down his boxer shorts.

Not to be mean to Ilan Eshkeri. The Ninja Assassin soundtrack is a perfectly well executed slab of intrigue, male voice choirs, and of course those string sections. Oh so many strings! Fair play to the man. I mean jeez, what the hell else are you going to do with this? I hope his paycheque helped him move to a bigger house, upgrade his car, and maybe buy a pony. A nice little pony, called Trigger The Pony, who, whenever intrigue-laden string-based soundtracks are played, lowers his pony eyelids half an inch and flicks his eyes from side to side, like a suspicious Hong Kong henchman whose just heard a floorboard creak somewhere behind him.

The Ninja Assassin soundtrack hasn’t done enough to convince me this movie isn’t the same as a Jet Li almost direct to dvd title. Is it really any different from Kiss Of The Dragon?

  • Nikki said:

Yes! Ninja Assassin is about ninjas not just Jet Li. I would say Ninja Assassin is overtop in some respects but totally bad ass. It is entertaining so don’t go in expecting a full on completely historical ninja movie. Its the best ninja movie I have seen.

I didn’t say Jet Li was in… Never mind.

I think Ninja Assasin is the best movie based on NINJAs and James Mctingue has again done a great job.

The movie is great. The fight scenes are fast, sharp, well executed. The thing is, when you slowly stab through a person’s neck, the blood won’t bust right? I like the blood bursting thingy but there was one scene were Raizo tied his “chained dagger thingy weapon” through his Ex-Ninja-Brother guy and then slowly plunges the dagger through his neck (man that was some super duper sweet revenge) and the blood just burst like there was some fountain of blood hidden on the neck. But still the movie is great. I actually want my 3-year-old nephew watch the film.
