Simon Pegg Tweets ‘Burke And Hare’ Cast Change
21.01.10 # News # 2 CommentsHere’s a news story based on a tweet that doesn’t exist anymore. Simon Pegg, some time recently, wrote on Twitter that David Tennant has dropped out of the upcoming Burke and Hare movie, to be replaced by Andy Serkis. The tweet has since been deleted …and I’m getting all this info second hand.
Burke and Hare is based on the real story of 19th century killers William Burke and William Hare, who made money by selling corpses to doctors. If dead bodies weren’t immediately available, they’d speed up the process with a bit of murder. Police have released these sketches of what they think the killers looked like. No one knows why, as the case was solved over 150 years ago:

The movie will be a mix of darkness and comedy in the vein of the old Ealing comedies, which director John Landis is reportedly a big fan of. Landis hasn’t made a film in many years and hasn’t been on form for a couple of decades, but this is all sounds tonally similar to his masterpiece An American Werewolf in London and that can only be a good thing.
