There’s been a lot of Percy Jackson 2 talk in recent weeks. So what has been said and how likely is a sequel?
There are five books in the Percy Jackson series, so far. The next installment is ‘The Sea Of Monsters’ which sees Percy, Annabeth, and his half-brother Tyson the cyclopes sailing across a dangerous ocean to save the kidnapped Grover and retrieve the Golden Fleece (the only thing that can stop Camp Half-Blood being made vulnerable to an attack by the Titans).
At the London press conference last week director Chris Columbus said “If we are successful enough, I’d love to make another film almost immediately with these guys. We had a wonderful time. I love the enthusiasm and lack of cynicism. I want to go back to work quickly.”
And despite recent Spider-Man casting rumours, it doesn’t sound like star Logan Lerman is going anywhere either. “I’m invested into the whole series. I’m crazy about the story and crazy about the character, I’d love to do all the films.”
The reaction to the first film has been mixed. Critics gave it a 49% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Casual members of the public seemed to half enjoy it. But many fans are angry. According to the feedback on this site and elsewhere, the book wasn’t just compressed (ala Harry Potter), it was “butchered”, its “heart taken out” with major plot re-routing, some characters altered beyond recognition, other key ones dropped entirely, etc. How this will affect repeat viewings and word of mouth we will have to see.
Lightning Thief has made $31 million on its opening weekend in the US. Not terrible, but not spectacular either. Internationally it opened with $28 million, which is underwhelming. It cost around $95 million. As of today, it needs to hold on well domestically and internationally to become a hit. If it does, there will be more.

Please make another movie I’m begging
I loved the movie the sideeffects were the best ever and the characters were just as i pictured them. If they are gonna make anew movie (which i hope and pray to the gods that they wiil) then keep it closer to the book. as for example i didnt like that they didnt put in mr.D, ares and clarisse they were very important to the script! and that they’ve skiped the whole lord kronos thingy and that the sea lady gave the pearls they wearnt supposed to find them! just some improvmenton that and the next movie will kick as! appart from these minor cut offs i totally adored and loved the movie it was AWESOME!!

Ehm no I’m not dumb! I just said that it was really good but they shouldn’t have made it so different from the book! No need to insult people!
i think that you should have been more up front about tartarus and kronos and the titans in general in tha 2 movie you should talk about these things and add more detail thanx for reading
i didnt like the fisrt movie because the skipped some importaant stuff but im hoping ill be able to see the Sea of Monsters
ihope they put clarrise in it and make and put most of the characters like Mr.D and Clarrise and Thalia
Luke should be more stronger and is suppose to be an excellent swordsman. He’s also working for and with Kronos so why didn’t they show it? They need to make the sequel worth seeing Cus they screwed up the 1st one. They need to change the characters, include more info, make it not stupid, and include more of the events and adventures.

OMGSSSSS I just heard about it finally there making the next one after all that time!!!!!!! I just hope they do everything right this time with optional scenes taken out like Percys dreams and stuff!!!!! EXCITED KEEPING TRACK OF HOW MANY DAYS WEEKS MONTHS ETC.!!!!!!!!!!!WOOT!!!!
I agree with the best match!!! There should be movies of all percy jackson book series. It’s funnier and interesting to see movie than read although the books were interesting and I read it millions of times!!! Rock on Percy Jackson!!!
I have seen pictures from filming of the sea of monsters and Annabeth has blonde hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! Phew
They really did screw up the fist movie (in comparison to the books, otherwise it was pretty good)I hope they include the prophecy of the big three (even though I know it’s supposed to happen when he’s 16,when he is around that age now) 
The series was freak’n awesome. The movie was a pile of dog crap. A sequel? OH, CRAP THE END REALLY IS NEAR!!!!!

okay one how could rick let them do that i love the seires but that moive all most destoryed my respect for the series if anybody who liked the books like the moive ur so messed up the wheres the orcale ? mr d. the aires fight every thin if i could make a moive better than that usin only a xbox
I think there should be another movie because at the end of the first one, it looks like Luke dies in the first movie. Make it to where he ISN’T dead. You strayed to far from the book which i didn’t like. I always read the books first then see the movies. You SHOULD NOT stray from the original. That happened with J.K Rowellings Harry Potter. If i ever wrote a book and it was getting published, i would want it the closes it could be. So I say go for it. BUT MAKE IT CLOSER TO THE BOOKS!!! That would make a whole lot difference!
