Green Lantern Concept Art

Green Lantern Concept Art
What you see before you are the aliens that will fight alongside and (SPOILER) against Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan in the forthcoming Green Lantern movie based on the comic books published by DC comics, home of Batman and Superman. Feast your eyes on more below.

That blue guy above? He’s from Oa, probably goes by the name of Ganthet. Think a whole race of blue Yodas and you’re in the right ballpark. They established the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic police force that Hal Jordan will be inducted to in the movie after meeting a deceased member. That deceased memer is the purple guy in the pictures. His name is Abin Sur. And the fish-bird next to him is known as Tomar-Re. So far so good, and I mean literlly good. These are the good guys, including Kilowog, the bulky dude.

This guy however, is not good. Even though at first, you’re meant to believe he is. He’s called Sinestro, so it’s pretty easy to guess he’s not a good guy at all. That and the fact that he looks like a sunburnt Ming the Merciless. Clearly they’re going for Lord of the Rings style EVIL looking bad guys.

Looks like erstwhile Bond director Martin Campbell is steering the project in a very nice direction indeed. The art is not slavishly faithful to the comic book source, and that’s a good thing, otherwise Tomar-Re would be ridiculous and Kilowog would look more cartoony than intimidating. Sinestro looks a bit crap though.

What do yous guys think? The designs get you excited for the movie? Less interested?

I like the look. I didn’t care for Goldeneye at all but since then director Martin Campbell has really developed into one of the better action filmmakers around. This project is well outside his safety zone, but I have faith in how this is shaping up.

    Now if you’ll excuse me,
In darkest day, in darkest night,
no evil shall escape my sight,
let those who worship evil’s might,
beware my power, green lantern’s light, hooooooooooooooo.

    In BRIGHTEST day. Oathfail ;)

    +1 for the ‘hoooooooooooooooooooooo’ though.

Everybody looks cool except Sinestro…what’s with the long hair?

    It’s also

    In BLACKEST night.

Darkest was only used in the animated JLA series so it didn’t seem racist against John Stewart….

I like the designs and I’m sure I loved Goldeneye and Casino Royale so yeah I have faith.

Seriously, the costumes are pure awful.

Looks ok, still bumbed over who is playing the lead though.

    @Adix – What’s wrong with them?

That’s Travolta from Battlefield Earth as Terl, easily!
That one at least is a fake and the mullet is crap!Zoom in on the mullet behind the neck. Looks cropped from a Battlefield Earth pic. At least that one looks fake.
The Abin Sur one looks like Bill Nighy from Underworld, to me.
I like the first ones and Sinestro’s outfit isn’t too bad, fits the characters smarmy attitude. But it’s kind of Venomed out isn’t it? Again, kind of fits the character’s attitude.
But that Sinestro one has to be a fake. Even if it comes out none are real or only a couple or so are, at least it’s fun to look at all of this…except for Tra-nestro’s Fear-Mullet!!! LOL!!!

    P.S.
The Guardian looks too tall and his face looks as if he’s Ian Holme taking a dump! LOL!!!

@Adix – i think they look about how they do in modern comic version of the story.

Remember it’s concept art. The suits may be totally different by the time filming starts.

I’ll give Sheridan a pass on the Lantern oath…I had to look it up. “Fail”

Sinestro does look like Travolta! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I think Kilowog looks badass, but I don’t know about the droopy ears. Small gripe, and again, it is simply concept art.
