Christopher Nolan is the best storyteller in Hollywood. That’s what make me excited for this. And now he’s got an almost unlimited budget to do it.
If only all directors had carte blanche. It would soon sort out the wheat from the chaff (to quote my Grandad). Then again maybe it’s good for studio’s to stick there oar in on some occasions?
This definitely seems very Matrix-ish but should be on a whole other level of cool
Would love for this film to make more than Avatar. It would just be RIGHT for it to, though I doubt it will.
I wish people would stop saying it’s influenced by The Matrix and Dark City though. I don’t see any resemblance to Dark City. And as for The Matrix – one of the main characters is named Morpheus.
MORPHEUS. It actually directly references that the dreamwalker concept is pretty much as old as stories we have. Inception may be reminiscent of these movies because of shared tropes, but I’d hesitate to say what it was influenced by until Nolan states his influences.
Nolan has definitely proven he’s got that awesome mix of story/character/emotion and genre set piece showmanship. Another movie potentially influencing this is Paprika. But the movies mentioned are just that, influences. Nolan should take these ideas somewhere new and exciting. And, the last time most directors had Carte Blanche was the early 1970s and I guess you could say the early 90′s, the Sundance generation.
