Die Hard 5 / Unbreakable 2

Die Hard 5 & Unbreakable 2 News
Much to everyone’s surprise, Die Hard 4 was actually pretty good. The digitally de-wrinkled Bruce Willis proved that he can still dodge bullets with the best of them, and Justin Long was great as the sidekick. So with that film’s success it isn’t a surprise to learn that a 5th film can be expected soon.

Talking to MTV over the weekend the Bruce said -

“I think we’re going to do a ‘Die Hard 5′ next year.”

Straight to the point, that’s why we love him. He also added his opinion on what 5 should be about…

“It’s got to go worldwide. That would be my contribution to it,”

Stick to acting Bruce. When will people learn that bigger doesn’t equal better with sequels!?

Willis also told MTV that M. Night Shyamalan is still thinking about doing an Unbreakable 2.

“I talked to [Shyamalan] over the holidays, and he is still thinking about doing the fight movie between me and Sam that we were gonna do,” he said. “We chose to do the origin

A lot of people didn’t like Unbreakable, I thought it was ok, verging on good. Couldn’t care less whether a sequel is made or not though, but i’m sure someone out there does care.

Which Bruce Willis sequel are you anticipating more?

For me Die Hard 4 was passable but forgettable. I had actually entirely forgotten Justin Long was in it until you mentioned it there.

Unbreakable was Shamalamadingdong’s best movie. Sequel is long overdue. In fact, it’s probably too late. The cast is too old really, and Sham doesn’t know how to make movies any more.

An action movie that should be focused on is another Mission Impossible, not Die Hard.

Agreed Unbreakable is Nights best movie, but I can’t see a sequel in it. The good thing about that film was that it was about the mythic idea of super heroes, but wasn’t really a super hero film. A sequel would simply be a low key super hero saga like an episode of Heroes.
Die Hard 5 makes sense. I liked 4. It did what it said it would do and number 5 would just be the same thing. Some people like Bond movies I prefer Die Hard. Sadly, I would probably watch Die Hard 8: Die Hardest Forever, set in an old people’s home with a walking-frame chase and an evil doctor trying to lower running costs by reducing the amount of time residents get to watch TV. Dammit, I grew up with this stuff. Only death can stop John Mclean.

@ gd smith – I completely agree that an Unbreakable sequel would end up feeling like an episode of Heroes. Really it’s unfair though, as Heroes ripped off Unbreakable in the first place.

I’ve been saying Heroes ripped of Unbreakable for years. I never understood the film’s relatively low rep. It’s a great movie, much better than some of more the more lauded attempts at dark super hero films. The problem with a sequel is that it would feel like a homage to something that, to say the least, it inspired. Somethings just don’t need sequels.

Die hard 4 easily best of die hards Timothy Olyphant was incredible. Unbreakable is top 20 movies of all times.

I think the advancement of technology being the back bone to Die Hard 4.0 and Timothy Olymphant made Die Hard 4.0 good. I feel the stunts were great until the fighter jet scene where my enjoyment of the film was destroyed.

As for Unbreakable i think the idea and the acting was good. I felt the look and pace of the film made it more of an aquired taste. But in all honestly when you strip them down Unbreakable is a better film.

I’ve got to admit, a sequel to Unbreakable does intrigue me but it could so easily go wrong for everyone concerned.
As for Die Hard 5, why not?
I love McClane character and Die Hard 4 was quite enjoyable so yeah, give me some more…
