Madagascar 2 Reviews

The Madagascar 2 reviews have escaped from Africa. I mean, from Roger Ebert’s brain and other places.
The first Madagascar made an incredible $532m around the world – 25% more than Wall-E.
It’s quite a weekend for the late Bernie Mac. Soul Men is released and this, his last animated feature (he voices Ben Stiller’s dad, Zuba).
Here’s what the movie critics are saying -
“This is a brighter, more engaging film than the original Madagascar…The action is thrilling (sacrifices to a volcano, a struggle for water), and there is a touching romance between Gloria the hippo and Melman the giraffe. …the prospect of a giraffe making love to a hippo is enough to set me writing limericks.”
Variety -
“Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is the rare animated sequel that reps a notable improvement on its predecessor in every department. Lively and quite funny without being obnoxious, this follow-up smoothly mixes the original’s New York Zoo escapees with a number of engaging new characters they encounter upon crossing from Madagascar to the mother continent.”
“Essentially this sequel has settled down into a sitcom: Each of its major zoo-raised animals has a comical issue that must get resolved before the credits roll. The film, like its predecessor, is aimed mostly at children…”
Madagascar 2 currently holds a 61% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, from 38 reviews.

Madagascar 2:
“When is it going to be over?” — my 7-year-old.
“When can we go home?” — the kid behind us.
My guess is that they just didn’t get the “brighter, more engaging” (Thanks Roger)giraffes dying in self-dug pits humor.
Hello. It was an amazing movie. Especially when Alex & his dad held up the sign of leadership over the whole army of animals and when they said “To Us”. That struck me hard. And it also made me realise that not everyone is the same & has to be appreciated for who they are.
I thought that Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa was much funnier than the first however when there is a sequel to a good movie it can never be quite as good as the one made beforehand. I thought it lacked an interesting plot, as the animals are not actually trying to escape to Africa, their plane crashes and they land there, so the title is misleading and there was not an exact story to follow. But it is easy to ignore those things as the humour makes up for it. It is a good movie, but like all films with sequels, no where near as good as the first.
I saw this today and I never thought about there not being much of a plot. I didn’t realise until now because it is just so funny and you get so caught up in it you forget about a story line. I personally think that this was better then the original. My favourite line is where King Julian announces he is going to be a professional whistler. My kind of homour.
Thanks for reading. =)
I WATCHED THE MOVIE, IT WAS REALLY STUNNING. THE LACK OF A PLOT WAS MADE UP FOR BY THE FUNNY COMMENTS OF THE ANIMALS BESIDES THE FACT THAT ALL THE ANIMALS PUT THEIR HANDS TOGETHER TO SOLVE THE DROUGHT PROBLEM AND RESCUE OTHERS WHO WERE DYING OUT OF THIRST MADE ME ASK WHY DON’T WE THINK OF SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF THE MIDDLE EAST. THANKS FOR UR TIME TO READ MY REVIEW.
I think the sequel is a real let down. there isn’t a strong enough story line. Alex the lion ends up sounding totally Gay when he perfoms this stupid dance that saves his dad from a NY crowd led by the lady who beat the crap out of alex in the first movie, and apparently wants to eat him this time around. And the Totally Gay Roar in the end… My son was like- “Thats not right daddy” What more can I say.
Rented this movie for my six-year-old, and he hated it at the ending. There were parts of the movie that just cracked him up, but at the end, he jumped off the bed and sat between the bed and the wall and started crying because it was so sad. So if you child is sensitive at heart, I recommend NOT renting this movie much less buying it.
Hey, I kind of agree. But most of the time the animation was perfectly bright and engaging. Music. Yes. Funny quotes. Some of them just cracked me up. Although, the love sequences aren’t my kind of stuff, but the love quotes are touching. I went there with a few friends for a birthday party. Of course, I LOVE animals. I recommend this film to people who love animals and are at least under ten years of age. I enjoyed its previous film much better, making my grandma and mom – even myself – laugh into a waterfall of tears because of some things.
