Top 10 Interesting Movie Facts - Trivia Fun.I’ve been collecting these. Interesting movie facts that are often buried deep in an article, usually in a throwaway line that provides more food for thought than the article itself. Here we go.

– John Carpenter was offered the job of directing ‘Top Gun’. He turned it down.

– Steven Seagal once broke Sean Connery’s wrist.

– After ‘Jaws’ and ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’, Steven Spielberg desperately wanted to direct a James Bond film. He approached the producers. They said no.

– Kiefer Sutherland has a twin sister, who looks just like him but with lipstick on.

– If you take into account inflation in ticket price, ‘Tootsie’ made more than ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’. ‘Blazing Saddles’ made double the amount of ‘Terminator 2’. And ‘American Graffiti’ made more than ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’.

    With adjusted dollars, the biggest all time money maker is still “Gone With the Wind”. Considering that when it came out in 1939,you had to “break” a dollar to pay for a ticket. When I first saw it in the 1950’s it cost me a staggering .25 cents. Regular kids’ prices were .11 cents.

    The movie District Nine was set in my hometown, “the City of Gold” – Johannesburg South Africa. The ramshackle Alien dwellings and neighbourhood were not specially constructed sets. These were homes simply rented from the “squatter” community which has grown up around every large city in South Africa.

    Eddie Murphy, John Belushi, and Chevy Chase were offered roles in Ghostbusters. And it was supposed to be

    John as Peter Venkman

    Eddie as Winston Zeddmore

    Chevy as Egon Spengler

    Marlon Wayans was supposed to play Robin in the third Batman film.

    Mike Myers was supposed to write and star in the Scooby Doo film.

    Kevin Smith was going to write and direct The Green Hornet

    And Jack Black was supposed to play Green Lantern.

    It’s not hard at all to believe that Steven Seagal broke Sean Connery’s wrist…he is a 7th Dan Aikido master.

    And it’s called “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. It was changed to Sorcerer’s Stone in the US only because they didn’t think Americans could understand what Philosopher’s Stone meant.
