Sucker Punch Trailer

Sucker Punch Trailer - Vanessa Hudgens The first trailer for Zach Snyder’s hotly anticipated ‘Sucker Punch’ has been released and it’s right here for you to enjoy. The trailer comes just after audiences at this year’s Comic-Con were treated to preview footage from the film. Behold the orgy of visual effects that is ‘Sucker Punch’.

Also, check out these pretty neat character posters:

‘Inception’ is currently wowing audiences worldwide with its multi-layered plot and mind bending special effects. In March 2011 Zach Snyder will be hoping to achieve a similar level of success with this tale set in the subconscious mind. The plot takes place mostly in the head of Baby Doll (Emily Browning), a girl who is sent to a mental asylum by her father and threatened with a labotomy. To escape from reality she retreats into a vivid, imaginary world full of dragons, samurais and beautiful women with machine guns (who wouldn’t want to escape to there?).

‘Sucker Punch’ was recently reversed from 3-D to good old fashioned 2-D following a change of heart by Snyder, who was concerned that 3-D’s tendency to darken the picture would ruin his lush visuals. I’m just glad that Snyder is trying to prove the critics who say he is all style no substance wrong, by making an intimate and emotional drama.

Now this shows Inception how its done. The subconscious and dreams are not full of bendy buildings. But kinky stuff is definitely in there. And Elvis, obviously.
This is one of those films that will be great, even if it’s not very good, because it’s full of good things. Like Wild Wild West. Everyone says its rubbish but it’s weird kinky rubbish with a giant steam powered spider. And that’s the best kind of rubbish.

I fully agree gd smith, Wild Wild West has a racist on a giant metal spider and nothing else in the movie can take away from that.

Watch an audience with Kevin Smith to find out why that Spider was in there and some quite astounding info on how films get the go ahead, and loads of random funny stuff!

Oh and now that I’ve watched this trailer a few times and pulled my trousers back up(ahem) I have to say that the posters are pretty shit. No imagination for such an imaginative film, of course I’m happy to look at scantily women any time (other than those calendars pensioners do for charity) but these posters are very dull indeed, none of the girls are in any great poses and only if you get out your magnifying glass can to get a peek into some of the other elements in the movie.
I can’t wait for the movie though, it’s the bitter-sweet sensation of seeing the trailer for a great movie then realising that by the time it’s released we’ll all be driving hover cars!

The Kevin Smith story about Superman, Philips and giant spiders is interesting.
The thing about Wild Wild West is that it is an incredibly odd and very kinky film.
You have this evil villain called Loveless who has been chopped off at the waist, he isn’t just loveless. He fills is time by making machinery with pistons and drive shafts, which he staffs with gorgeous women dressed mostly in Victorian underwear! He builds a giant spider, which is a very Jung kind of thing to do. This is very strange stuff to find in a light hearted romp aimed at kids.

This premise is an interesting one that is spoilt by the puerile nature of the characters, just look at those outfits.

Reminds me of “Dead Or Alive” except dafter, lets face it Zac Snyder is not renown for depth.

One for the fan “boys” I am afraid.

Oh this film looks good. And the film should be good looking back at Snyder’s last two masterpieces 300 and Watchmen.

  • Thom said:

Seems like “Sin City” mixed with “Shutter Island”. Although I too loved 300 & Watchmen, I have to agree with Si about how the interesting premise has been spoilt by gearing it towards the relatively small teenage boy market.

  • gd smith said:

Oh please, stop beating yourselves up about teenage boys! The thing we’re communicating on is pretty much a random free porn generator! Thus TBs will not flock to see Sucker Punch.
Sucker Punch will actually appeal to people grown up enough to accept that comic book aesthetics are innately fetishistic and as an art-form where visual imagery has it’s own kind of depth. If people can accept Anime and Asian cinema with their plethora of cyborg girls, big guns, and weird subtexts, what exactly is the problem with Sucker Punch’s visual style?
The actual problem sucker punch will face is criticism from people who fundamentally do not get comic book concepts and, ironically, borderline misogynists, who simply don’t like girls in action films. And who think Batman is somehow more grounded in realism than Tomb Raider or something!
I liked Watchmen and 300 and I like the look of this.
