2012 - Trailer

I always wondered why The Shining isn’t more imitated, given how effective it is. The music for one thing. But I never thought I’d hear it turn up on the trailer for a Roland Emmerich blockbuster.
But so it is with the 2012 movie trailer. 2012 has nothing to do with the London Olympics, it’s an end-of-the-world scenario based on some Mayans deciding a long time ago that it was the date the planet would cease to be.
The movie suffers from the same problem as Jim Carrey’s The Number 23 - it’s trying to convince us that a number has always been hugely significant, when no one believes it. Nonetheless it’s a pretty effective teaser. In fact you could put that Shining score to anything and it would give you the heebiejeebies.
2012 stars John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Oliver Platt. It’ll be released on November 13th, 2009.

Cool movie, could i ask who are the “SHINY” people are they like aliens or something and if they are coming to rescue us “why”.would aliens rescue abusive violent creatures like us who cause war and voilence!Besides here is proven fact the world wont end,not written by me!
The short answer to your question is no. the world is not going to end in 2012. There is no scientific proof, or evidence for that matter. People think that the world is going to end because that’s when the mayan calendar ends. If this is why the world is going to end then we might as well say that the world is going to end on December 31 2009 because no calendars have been printed for 2010 yet. Its an absurd idea that has been shamelessly endorsed by yahoo, google, the news media, and even the history channel.
that’s the short answer. Here’s the long one:
There are a couple theories on how the world will supposedly end in 2012. I will give you examples, and shoot the ideas down for you.
The most popular idea is that planet x, is going to come to the earth and block the sunlight. First of all, it is not “the planet x” it’s “a planet x”. planet x is a generalized term that caught on a couple hundred years ago that was used to describe unknown planets of our solar system. Neptune was once a planet x. astronomers calculated that the orbital period of Uranus was affected by another object, probably a planet, that was beyond Uranus. They calculated the orbital period of this planet x, and found where it would be at a specific time. They saw the planet, and it was no longer considered planet x. it got its name- Neptune. Scientists miscalculated the orbital period of Neptune being affected by another planet, but by chance their miscalculations revealed Pluto. This icy world was also considered planet x, and was first seen in 1930. It was considered a planet until 2006 when it was demoted to a dwarf planet, and now a plutoid. Sedna, quaour, eris, and ceris were all considered planet x’s, and were eventually classified as plutoids.
Now that you know the true definition of a planet x, lets talk about the scientific improbabilities of a planet x that is going to travel all the way to the earth. First of all, I have gone to college, and received a PhD in astronomy and astrophysics and I have never heard of nibiru. According to recent data, there may be another planet larger than earth lying in the kupiter belt. this planet would have to be more than 5 light years away. So if it were to suddenly travel at light speed, the fastest possible speed an object can achieve, it would take the planet 5 years to get here. 2012 is less than 4 years away. Besides the mathematic problems, there are scientific problems too. First of all, there is no force that would make the planet travel at light speed. Second, it would have to get through the beatings of countless asteroids, and the gravitational pull of the four gas giants of the outer solar system - Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter. I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a moon of one of those planets on its way. Anyway, if it did get through the gas giants, it has to get through another asteroid belt, as well as mars. It will most likely be shot into outer space, or into the sun where it will burn up. If it did manage, by some miracle, to get in front of the earth, it would be in a different gravitational shell. It would be closer, which means it will orbit the sun faster than the earth, therefore it will move away from us. So that’s not going to happen.
Another theory is about the asteroid. Its going to hit earth or whatever. Here’s why it won’t work: the asteroid has to take the same path to get to the earth as planet x, but it is even smaller, and will take more of a beating. If it got through everything, it would just crash into our moon probably. If it did come to earth, the atmosphere would burn it up so much that there would probably be nothing left for it to hit earth.
All other theories are just as absurd. Nothing is going to happen in 2012, except for the same things that could happen any other year.
Nice write up Kyle, it’s good to have someone with a real PhD in astronomy and astrophysics weigh in on this!
I wonder which of those scenarios they will go with in the movie.
Just in case you’re wrong though, I’m building a rocket in my back garden. And before you ask, there’s only enough room for me and a packed lunch.
My friend worked on the VFX - the pollution problems create giant magnifying glass sections of the Earth’s atmosphere, which in turn act as microwaves and cook the Earth from the inside out, liquefying more than just the core, but also parts of the mantle.
This creates environmental havoc.
How this happens without simply cooking the whole world, no idea. The entire thing is so absurd it’s like someone’s giving a ten-year-old millions of dollars to bring his crayon drawings to the big screen. I love it, absolutely love Emmerich’s films because they are so shockingly ridiculous.
Wow, at first I thought you were talking about the music played through opening credits of THE SHINING. But this was actually from the famous teaser trailer that featured the elevator filled with blood. Good shiite!
I don’t know what to say about the earth ending so, here goes. A meteor hitting the earth is quite common as it happens all the time and when it comes through the atmos; it is on the size if a ball? there are so many theory’s around for example! the sun burning out or earth’s inner core cooling down, there is even a (Proven) fact that the Moon is moving away from the earth a 3cm a year and when it does go we will not have seasons. Nostradamus has predicted nearly all of what has happened so far from hiroshima to 9/11. but all the end of the world predictions have been PONY!!!
So in conclusion i will say that the film will be just like the day after tomorrow with a twist?? and the Kyle said the chances are very slim for all this to happen, but never say never
Kev (Peace)
I think The movie Is gonna be huge, I cant Wait To See It.
THE NWO IS SET TO START2012 THESE FREAKS THINK THEY WILL SURVIVE PLANET X I DONT THINK SO. IN THE BIBLE ITS CALLED THE DAY OF THE LORD, THE START OF THE TRIBULATION. DONT WORRY THOUGH IT WONT KILL US TILL AT LEAST 2015 AT LEAST THATS WHAT THE ASTRONOMERS THINK
Looks like a good movie, i hope it dosen’t turn into a flop. 2012 is a big issue on the internet with websites and forums and blogs discussing the matter.
In real life it is either a comet that will hit us or a planet that will cause a polar shift to our earth. Or an alien race “Giants” coming to enslave us, thats a long shot but possibe, or maybe nothing will happen and it will be another false alarm. I hope it is a false alram.
The return of the Annunaki and the planet Nibiru, they are the people of light, the very ones who spawned the human race. Look into it and the infamous Nasa project Blue Beam. This movie not only takes the myan calendar into account but also the amount of truth behind the movie based on the account of every civilization on the planet that they and inturn we all were seeded by reptilian gods from the sky are too accurate. Look into it, there is too much about it available but we choose to ignore it all becuase we are too preoccupied with the mudane details of our daily lives.
