The guessing game over who will be the main The Dark Knight Rises villain continues, but does the trailer for the new video game Batman: Arkham City provide a major clue?
We know that Tom Hardy was cast early in the process, before the script was even finished, the speed of which suggested he was a no brainer for the part. We know that Nolan often prefers to go for the lesser known villains in Batman’s rogue gallery, as evidenced in Batman Begins.
The first videogame in this series, Batman: Arkham Asylum, was an enormous success both critically and commerically. Meaning Batman: Arkham City is one of the most anticipated games of 2011. The first game was published by Eidos, but this time Warners has decided to take over as publisher.
Here’s what was unveiled at the Spike Video Game Awards yesterday:
Who does Hugo Strange look uncannily like?…
Tom Hardy in Bronson:

Hugo Strange is barely known outside the comics, and so, as Warners and DC are across both mediums, it makes sense to use this platform to significantly increase awareness ahead of time.
Batman: Arkham City is currently scheduled to be released in late 2011. The Dark Knight Rises is out in 2012.
