Twilight Lives On - New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn

new moon movie release date & rumors

We already know there will be a New Moon movie (the second book in the Twilight series). But now the third book (Eclipse), and the fourth (Breaking Dawn) have also been greenlit for production. Some light has also been shone on New Moon’s release date.

SPOILERS! New Moon sees Edward leaving Bella for her own safety, only for her to fall into the clutches of another vampire - some girls just attract trouble. The third in the series, Eclipse, advances the relationship triangle to something more complex as evil forces begin to come after Bella, presumably because by this point she has turned into a magnet for all the evil in the world. Breaking Dawn sees Bella and Edward getting hitched.

Twilight adapter Michelle Rosenberg (Step Up, TV’s Dexter) is signed on to write the second and third films, with nobody currently attached to the fourth. Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Kristen Stewart (Bella) will reportedly make $12 million each for New Moon, up $10m a piece from Twilight.

With filming set to start in March, the New Moon movie’s release date is expected to be Christmas 2009 - although it’s possible that could slip to the first half of 2010.

God save us … from emo vampires … that can come out in the daylight.

Still not won you over yet James?

The movie was a horrible adaptation of the book! Someone needs to think about the more mature audience, where were all the important key elements. We got a small patch of grass not Edwards meadow, we got cheated out of their blossoming love story for standing in trees. I paid to see a mockery of a love story that I had to literally read the novels again after seeing the movie to erase it from my mind! Are there anyways to remake this atrosity?

I am so excited that they are going to go ahead with the sequels. I have already been to the theater twice to see twilight. Plus I have read all the books. I am completely enamored, and am not at ll ashamed by the fact that I am a 30 year old woman. I bought the books two weeks and have not been able to put them down. I think the ultimate appeal for me is that in the end, I want to believe that love like that where no matter the cost, and the danger is possible. I am totally in love with the idea of Edward. I am going to the movie again this weekend. Obsessed… maybe but I will deal with it.

Also as far as James is concerned. If you were to just appreciate what they are doing with the whole “they can come out in the daytime thing”. It sounds like you are a big fan of the scary, darker vampire films. Well imagine if they made a really scary movie about the same thing… It would open up so much more opportunity for fear…

God, I loved this movie! I am now reading the books. I am a 31 year old mom and I used to roll my eyes when I heard someone mention, “Twilight”…..but now I am completely addicted. I thought the movie was more exciting than the book but I saw the movie first so I guess I am biased….I hope they will release New Moon the movie sooner than Dec. 2009…..I can’t wait that long….I NEED it!
Oh yeah, and my husband loves it too, he took me to see it twice..although he says it’s obsessive to see it a third time so I am considering leaving work early and sneaking off by myself to see it again. I think I need to join a Twilight support group.
I totally dig the baseball scene in the movie, it was so much cooler than in the book. As was the scene where Edward saves Bella from the thugs in Port Angeles. The book doesn’t give it the same edge that the movie does. So, I say, “nice work!” to the screenplay writer…. and keep ‘em coming!

I never read the books when I went to see the movie. I was pleasantly surprised by it. Not perfect, but not complete crap. I liked it alot, even saw it three times (and contemplating whether to see it a fourth time). I’m reading the first book now and noticed that the movie didn’t really adapt the amount of time it took for them to fall in love, therefore people watching the movie without reading the books will think it’s just some silly girl thinking she’s in love with what she believes and later finds out to be a “beautiful” vampire. I hate to admit it, but Mr.Sparkles is pretty darn good-looking. Hopefully New Moon has less edit mistakes though. Lookin’ forward to it :]

OMG!!! The movie was sooo good and I’m so happy that I’m in the U.S. in the mom, cause the book (and the movie) are soooo undescribable good in English!!!! You don’t know how happy you can be to live here in America…So I have to go back to Germany in August and then I have to see the next movies in fucking GERMAN!!! And I have o wait like 3 months longer than you here to see New Moon, altough it’s worse than yours *cryyyyyyyyy* I wann live here and I wann see Rob..he’s just soooo hot!!! *love*

I agree with Cynthia! I read the 4 books, then got excited to see the movie Twilight, hoping that it would reflect the book much more than it did. The first book was better than the movie, no doubt about it. I just hope that they can make the next three movies a little better, paying closer attention to the details that they go over in the book. And instead of skipping important scenes and cutting out lines, they could always just make the movie a little longer. I know I wouldn’t mind watching a longer movie, as apposed to seeing one where events where cut out or changed around.

great book, great movie, absoultely cant wait for the next. of course the book is gonna be better. but the movie was nicely done, no doubt about that.

I watched the movie at 12:10 midnight and it was worth the wait. the movie was 0verall good though sometime there are alittle bit of poor special effects. i am starting to read the books and i have to say that it’s better then the movie though not the greatest. I love the book because there’s more events then the movie can display though i don’t blame the movie. though i do wish taht they turn twilight into a tv series instead like for example smallville and supernatural, yeah something like that where there’s more time to shoot longer scenes from the book. that way it’s more satisfying when almost all the scenes can be shot. ^0^
