James Bond still has a lot of unanswered questions, so what can we expect from the Quantum Of Solace sequel?
** BIG QUANTUM OF SOLACE SPOILERS AHEAD **
The final scene of Quantum Of Solace was removed. It showed Mr. White’s ultimate fate and the identity of his superior. And it probably indicates a major element in the next movie -
If you remember, it’s mentioned that one of the PM’s closest advisors, Guy Haines, is a member of ‘Quantum’. In the original cut, Bond sees him during the Tosca opera scene and the movie ends with a one minute sequence where 007 introduces himself to Haines at his estate, setting up the sequel. Mr. White is there too and when Bond dispatches White for good, it blends into the famous gun barrel sequence.
It would be surprising if the Haines plotline was dropped, given the set-up that is still in the theatrical release.
It’s very clear they are building up the Quantum organisation to be a modern equivalent of SPECTRE. SPECTRE’s head, Blofeld, wasn’t revealed for some time, being initially represented only from the neck down, stroking a cat. So the question is now, who will the new equivalent of Blofeld be, and how long will the filmmakers wait before introducing him? There was a rumor a year ago he would be played by Al Pacino, but this seems an unlikely choice…
Quantum Of Solace has divided cinemagoers. Some passionately dislike the action scenes for being disorientating, confusing, and even boring. So it may be good news or not that Quantum’s director Marc Forster has turned down the sequel, explaining:
“They offered me the next one, but at this point the pressure is so intense — it’s a year of not having a life. And I don’t know if I want to do that again. It’s literally not having a life, and I mean that, it’s not exaggerated. I feel like life is short, you have to find a balance.”

Quantum of Solace was entertaining for sure, but sometimes i got the feeling that the movie was making fun of itself… everywhere pane of glass Bond crosses was broken, he can’t get a gallon of milk from the store without it turning into a chase scene, and every time he punches someone in the face, they die
Well other previous bond films have way to much gadgets and stuff thats why casino royale rocked it didnt have all the tons of misiles coming out of the car exhaust, bourne is actually a good movie with good action so much as theplot, but nevertheless casino royale was better than this one
Quantum of Solace was a great action film. However, it wasn’t Bond. It was just Daniel Craig playing a very depressed and boring Bourne. Hopefull for the third installment of this reboot series, Bond can get over the death of Vespa and actually be Bond again.
I would like to see Bond become more of an assassin.
One where strategy is used in favor of brawn.
Casino Royale had breathless scenes of action that kept
unfolding to new heights but still was contained.
In order to pull this off they would need another high caliber director.One who could maintain the pace yet keep it smart & entertaining.
Quantum of Solace was a good fit & a worthy follow up.
Casino began the hunt at the end & Solace carried it through.
Hence #3 we see Bond as the perfect blunt instrument he is destined to be.
My vote is for David Fincher as director Goldfrapp for the theme & keep all the same writers & such from the previous two.
I definitely don’t wanna see mark forster returning as the director. As far as I’m concerned he nearly ruined the franchise with “Quantum”. Thank God the writers of the film saved it, but a change definitely needs to be made. Forster’s directing reminds me of a kid fresh out of college trying to make already interesting action scenes flat out confusing with “complex” shots, quick cuts, and angles. There’s no room for that in a 60 year franchise. PLEASE BRING MARTIN CAMBELL BACK!!! I would love to see Pacino revealed as quantum’s leader, but only at the very last scene of the film, and I wanna see some of the more typical Bond locations, like Egypt, The Swiss Alps, or maybe even China or North Korea. I would also like to see a CLASSIC villain and HENCHMAN for once. Casino, though it was a great story, lacked a good villain, and so did Quantum, although Mathieu is a great actor and pulled what he could out of the character. Come on writers! I know you can come up with something good as far as the bad guys go! You’re genius…stop worrying about spending time to develop Bond’s character…that’s been done. Spend some time making a bad ass villain, and a henchman reminiscent of Oddjob or Jaws. The last two films had henchman that look like drag queens that my 150 pound self could take down with ease….come on now!
