There’s been plenty of X-Men: First Class 2 talk over recent days, so what has been said and how likely is a sequel?
First the bad news. A sequel has not been announced. …Yet. If the movie was a complete slam dunk, it would have been. After all, a screenwriter for The Hangover Part III was hired virtually the day after it opened.
Quality-wise, First Class is a roaring success, with an 87% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and an 8.2 rating from the public on IMDB, putting it into the top 250 public-voted movies ever made. What’s causing the studio to pause for thought is the slightly underwhelming box office. First Class had the least attended opening weekend of any of the X-Men films, its $55m only passable by the standard and down significantly on X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s $85m. Hopefully better word of mouth will help it keep afloat longer, and all sequels are victims to a certain extent of the previous film – Spider-Man 3 opened huge because Spider-Man 2 was so good, First Class opened weaker because audiences were underwhelmed by Origins: Wolverine. Another factor is, unlike the previous three movies, First Class didn’t have any stars. If the studio are wise they’ll remember that Batman Begins (which only did decent box office, but thrilled those who saw it) led to The Dark Knight (which did enormous box office). The First Class actors will be a much bigger draw next time around.
Unusually, First Class is potentially the second X-Men franchise running simultaneously, what with Wolverine about to get another film next summer. It’ll be interesting to see which one wins out, or if they can both co-exist. There’s a slim chance the studio won’t make any firm decision until Wolverine 2 comes out, giving them an opportunity to compare the numbers.
But all things considered, an X-Men: First Class sequel is much more likely than not.
Plot-wise, there’s not much point looking to the comics for where the story will head. Although there is a series of the same name, the differences with the first movie are enormous. Instead it’s wiser to listen to producer Bryan Singer who’s said “When [First Class] happened, Kennedy had not been assassinated and the Vietnam War hadn’t happened yet. …[Also] what’s really interesting about the ’60s setting is the civil rights movement. [Professor X and Magneto are] really the Malcolm X and Martin Luther King of comic mythology.”
Meanwhile, First Class director Matthew Vaughn has stated “We will only have one more new character [in an X-Men: First Class sequel]. I won’t say who he…I won’t say who he or she is! …As Professor X is in a wheelchair, Magneto needs to have a nemesis he can fight with. Someone that will be his equal. I know who it is. It would be nice if I could say something, but I can’t.”
There’s also a possibility Wolverine himself could join the franchise in a more significant way than his cameo. Singer adds, “I think there would definitely be room. I think it would be very exciting. This universe has to establish itself first, but that would be a very interesting and fun thing.” It’s likely that a sequel would be set before Wolverine lost his memory in the 70s. And besides, the director has shown he will throw out continuity with other movies if it serves his story. If the Wolverine franchise starts to faulter, then moving him back over to the winning team could make sense, especially if Jackman is still keen on playing the character.

my opinion for a sequel:
Character Line up; the original team Cyclops, Jean, Angel, Beast, and definatly Iceman. It looks like a lot of fans want true to the comics stories, a lil old fashion would be nice with modern film making.
Villian; why not Magneto? save apocalypse, save Sinister. let the plot thicken. Xavier and Eric are coming to terms with the fact that they are against one another, It would be nice to see them struggle to oppose one another! and make it graphic. comics havent been made for children for YEARS!
Wolverine?: not even!!!! cameo.. fine! infact his cameo in First Class was pricelss but he is his own story. Time has passed and now Avnegers is out! ppl are up to speed with Nick Fury so i want to see Samuel Jackson as nick, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner do a highly anticipated HULK VS WOLVERINE!!!!!! ya feel me?
and at least mention that Darwin didnt accually die cuz thats not cool!

i loved x-men 1st class the best by far! org. woloverine was good the x men movies (execpt 3) were good, i say that because its just not good to put “out there” comic or carton plots on the big screen (the phonix) keep it simple as close to real world as possible fantatic 4 rise of the silver surfer is a good example of what not to do batman begins and x men first class are examles of excactly what to do super hero movies can be hit and miss spiderman 3 sucked spiderman 2 is my fav superhero movie or tied with dark night green lantern eh could have been better and could have beeen worse thank god they got the avengers right and all the lead up movies capt america thor were great maybe hollywood has got the formula down now so keep down the whineing and out there plot lines (green lantern fan4 silver)and sit back and count your money
I think they should actually do a first class film. Because the film which is called X-men: First Class is Not. that shocking piece of trash which not only ruins 60 years of comic books, but also makes any of the other X-men or X-men related films make absolutely no sense at all. First Class should of had: Scott Summers aka Cyclops, Bobby Drake aka Iceman, Hank Mccoy aka Beast (the only member the film got right… and the then made him blue and furry before his first mission????), Warren Washington III aka Angel (not a Latino girl with tattoo wings!!??) and Marvel Girl aka Jean Grey. Before you consider even attempting a sequel, pull your finger out and actually read the source material. Because First class was in all areas… WRONG. James Macavoy Shave your head for god sake, Xavier was bald from the age of 12.
Ben styler not everything has to b just like the comics I noticed that he got paralyzed in that movie but in X2 he could walk but I didn’t get all pissed it’s just a movie
I think they should make a sequel but with the original cast that’s what will get their ratings up. People like wolverine, jean grey, storm, & rogue. That’s the people I was expecting to see & I’m sure others was too. So if you bring them to the cast I think more people will want to watch it.
i would love to see nightcrawler put into play i mean azazel and mystique are his parents and now they are close together
Just watched for first time really liked it. I think it still has a good chance of a remake. And the role of raven was played by the star of the hunger games so if she plays in the sequel I think it has a good chance of succeeding as she is a bigger star now. Really hope there is a sequel, an maybe if they get a big star to play new mutant that would help to I wonder who they were thinking of!? So many favs I’d love to see join!!
Add wolverine any movie with him is awesome almost every marvel fan loves him even adults if you added him a lot of people would come to the movie.

xmen first class was good not great but with out a major star was good i do think a second will do much better with either polaris or gambit or cyclopes being added since cyclopes should have been there at the begening any way
wolverine is a good character however to many movies with him people with get tired of him
if a Villain Boss for X-Men First Class 2 is Mister Sinister
Jason Isaach is very best for to be him..
of course the story line is also about Cyclops + The Dark Phoenix to beat Mister Sinister but it is also about Days Of Future Past including other characters who should be there such as :
Scarlet Witch, Iceman, Angel, Juggernaut, Storm, Wolverine, Havok, Gambit… I think Vertigo is the partner for Mister Sinister..
and Jean Grey would be becoming as the Dark Phoenix with under Jean Grey Control, she would be free to use her super massive power when fighting with Mister Sinister later… and I want to see Selene / The Black Queen too.. but she isn’t evil but she is joined with the X-Men with Days of Future Past Story,..
I think they should make another Xmen it would be great and the storyline should be based off the alternate future with senator Kelly to try and stop an assassination. The brotherhood led by mystic should be there and magneto. Xmen should encounter Bishop and add all tge original X-men like alternate future storm with the Mohawk badass and wolverine and jean grey cyclops jubilee beast gambit and rogue the one that could fly with super strength. Come on fox let’s make a true epic movie without too much sentimental dialog and more kick as team work and action. Like the Thor movie. X-men have so much potential with amazing characters such as Storm and wolverine they both really indeed have kick ass storylines. Plus storm fucking controls the weather best mutant of all. Watever they do they really should get storm in the movie and try to get a famous star lets say Halle Berry to reprise her role. Fuck all u who don’t agree that chick is bad ass as storm
