bolt movie reviews
The Bolt movie reviews have been let off the leash.

In the movie, a dog named Bolt (John Travolta), who has lived his entire life as the isolated star of a superdog TV show, stumbles into the real world (Truman Show-style) and discovers he doesn’t have the superpowers he thought he did.

Originally titled ‘American Dog’, the movie was the subject of much infighting at Disney, with original director Chris Sanders (’Lilo & Stitch’) being forced off the project when he refused to make changes.

Nonetheless, I’ve personally been very impressed by the footage, which has been unusually funny and un-forced for a kids’ 3-D animation.

Here’s what the movie critics are saying -

AV Club -

“…in spite of its mostly animal protagonists, Bolt has a humanity rarely seen in the CGI world outside of Pixar’s features. …For the first time in years, it feels like Disney has done its namesake proud. Grade: B+”

Hollywood Reporter -

“…this genial production is a notable step up for Disney Animation Studios and the first to fall under the creative guidance of Pixar’s John Lasseter. With easy-on-the-ears voice work from John Travolta and Miley Cyrus and easy-on-the-eyes digital 3-D…the film should handily tickle its target audience.”

Variety -

“Bolt is an OK Disney animated entry enhanced by nifty 3-D projection…things pick up at an Ohio rest stop, where they are joined by Rhino, a roly-poly hamster quite adept at maneuvering the clear plastic ball in which he spends most of his time. Rhino’s antics provide welcome comic relief as well as a buffer for the cat-and-dog exchanges.”

Bolt currently holds a 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, from 43 reviews.

Funny and sweet. Younger kids will not get the subtle humor. Travolta is wonderful and the hamster hysterical.

As a Disney lover, I though bolt was just the cutest and funnest thing. It has laughable moments for both kids and teens and even adults! Its a well rounded movie that has a very good meaning to it and I believe the whole family would enjoy it.
<3 not one of Pixars BEST BEST but it was still very good.

We did a 3 adults only 3-D viewing on opening day aftyernoon (no crowd of kids)and loved the film. This isn’t McBeth people. It’s funny, inovative 3-D and entertaining. Good for kids with enough subtlety to make it a viable adult animated feature which makes it an ideal family outing. GO SEE IT, YOU”LL ENJOY IT.

I may have to see it again to see what everyone else is talking about….
The movie I saw was unbelievably boring. Wait for the video and spend $4 for the family instead of $44 for sure.

I kid you not, this was the best movie I have seen in 20 years. The comedy is beyond incredible. The audience in the theatre was laughing out loud throughout the show. The animation is the best of all the Pixar-type movies I’ve seen. It’s good for kids 8 and up. Younger than that and there are a few scary scenes that will need some ’splainin (spoiler alert: like dad separated from daughter, dog holding cat from bridge threatening to drop into traffic, etc). The brilliance of this movie is that is has humor geared for kids and adults. Both will love the wit and expressions of Bolt and the hampster. Next best are the Hollywood ‘evil’ cats. I cannot wait to see this movie again. Highly recommended.

I viewed the film on sunday 1st February in the UK at a special Screening at the trafford Centre. I am a cast member at a Disney Store in the North West and have seen ALL the Disney films!.

I thought the film was above average, but it kept getting boring then exciting then boring then exciting.

I personally feel the hamster ‘Rhino’ makes the film interesting and without this character the film would get a thumbs down.

All in all, some good characters, quite and interesting story line but dragged out.

I would see the movie again though as itdid make me laugh a few times.
