10 Not-Yet Famous Actors Who Got Killed In Horror Movies27.08.11 # Top Ten # 41 Comments
Today I’m looking at the top 10 famous actors who were killed off in a horror movie before they were well known. You know, the death scenes you stumble across and go “Oh yeah, they got mangled in that film and I totally forgot about it”, or “Did I just see Kevin Bacon take an arrow-head through the throat?!”
It seems apart from appearing nude / playing gay characters / and or both, being fodder in horror films is a good way to build your CV and get noticed when you are still a fledgling actor. So let’s investigate.
10. Kristin Davis in Doom Asylum (1987)
Does this cover art remind anyone else of the poster for Clue?
Okay, so already we got off to a bad start. I trawled the internet and for the life of me could not find a video of Sex And The City’s Kristin Davis’ death scene in this schlocky b-movie horror – although recently it came on TV in a clips show. Suffice to say, Kristin’s character meets a grisly death at the hands of the “The Surgeon” – who is this mutated butcher/lawyer (don’t ask) – when he applies a mini-circular saw to her face.
Well, to make up for lack of video, above Kristin shows off a very lovely bikini-wax in this spandex blue one-piece swimsuit – which she wears throughout the entire film apparently.
9. Kelly Hu in Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
A young and innocent Kelly Hu (21) appears in the installment of Friday the 13th in which Jason takes Manhattan. And by ‘takes’ we mean machetes a dozen of its 1.6 million residents.
Unfortunately Kelly Hu is removed with relative ease. There’s none of the kung-fu badass skills she so frequently displayed during Sammo Hung’s Martial Law, no adamantium fingernail slashing from X-Men 2 to offer protection and no sorcery exuding from her sexy arab costume in The Scorpion King. Nothing. And yes, I did just name the most likeliest places you’ve seen Kelly Hu before just in case you asked yourself “Kelly Who?”. Oh well.
8. Owen Wilson in Anaconda (1997) + The Haunting (1999)
Owen Wilson got killed off in two horror movies in the space of two years. Once by a snake and once by a haunted house.
He’s one of the first to go in Anaconda. The death is pretty much presented as: the other characters are on the boat in the background saying “Where is Gary?” and then in the foreground we see a boa-constricted Wilson being dragged under the water. Not gruesome but an admirable way to exit any movie.
In The Haunting – which sees Oscar nominees Catherine Zeta-Jones and Liam Neeson being scared in a house by cgi run amok – Wilson has his head bitten clean off by a stone lion. He makes no attempt to get out of the way, and doesn’t bleed. (Ignore the song):
