There have been recent developments both negative and positive on Warners’ new Superman movie, Man of Steel. On the debit side, reputed script problems have seen the release date slip from December 2012 to summer 2013. But on the plus side, Laurence Fishburne has joined the production as Daily Planet editor Perry White, and the first official pic of Henry Cavill as Superman has just been released.
As per the picture below, the costume sported by Cavill’s Superman is looking a little darker in hue than those previously sported on-screen by Reeve and Routh. Though it is not as much of a departure as the black suit insisted on by producer Jon Peters when he was crafting his never-realised Superman reboot in the ‘90s (he supposedly reckoned the iconic red ‘n’ blue uniform was “too faggy”).
Aside from the obvious action element to the snap, namely the badly busted-up bank vault, the other thing that catches the eye is slight bouffant that this new Superman seems to have on the go. So even if Man of Steel is not, as Warners and director Zack Snyder will surely be desperately hoping, the biggest Superman film to date, it looks set to certainly to feature the larger Super-hair than any prior outings. And that’s got to be some kind of achievement, hasn’t it?
In addition to Cavill and Fishburne, Man of Steel also features Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, and Michael Shannon as General Zod, plus some other people playing some other people. It is due for release on 14 June 2013.

I like the look of Cavill in the role, costume looks cool, so far so great.
Are you retarded?! Cavill sucks A**! He looks nothing like the man of steel should. Whoever cast his is retarded, seriously fishburne as Perry white? Are you really trying to copy marvel when they made nick fury from white to black with Jackson?! Who would seriously be way better than the no talent fishburne, either you dont read comics or your retarded.
Nick Fury in The Ultimates was African-American and looked identical to Samuel L. Jackson.
i dont understand that when a black actor is tapped to play a role of a known white character u people have a problem with it, but when a known black character is changed to a white actor u dont say anything about it. fisburne is a great actor and can bring some serious clout to the role as perry. Its bad enough for all the superhero movies the only black one we got was blade(my opinion). I dont see why black actors cant play these other heroes, the world is multi-colored these days and people are sick and tired of just seeing white faces on the big sscreen when we want to see some color of these leading actors for these roles to be consider. Now im a huge Batman fan and christian bale to me is doing a wonderful job as the character but the movie green lantern should have had a black actor staring role, we want some color plzzz hollywood.
All you people that are calling this film down before you have even seen it must have a cr*p life and have to find somthing to complain about. I think you all work for an other film company and you know that the new superman film is going to be fantastic, so you are trying to put everyone off going to see this film. I meen come on realy? complaing about what suit superman has got on. Their are more important things in life. If you spent more energy on tackling real issues then this world would be a better place. I say let people watch the film first and then make your own mind up to weather you like it or not and dont be swayed by any other persons views on this film. My 3 sons are superman fans and the last thing anyone should do is to wrong this film becouse it is upsetting people like my boys who have done nothing wrong to you who are already complaining, and you are calling a somthing that my boys are looking forward to seeing. Sorry but complainers realy make me angry. Its not about having an opinion just wait to see the film first.
I’m sure I have an old deck chair made out of the same material as that suit!
Surprised that they kept him in tights and knee-high boots, was expecting the new “denim jeans” look.

Overall, the image makes me think that Superman will always be the same story over and over again
Routh was waaaaay better, bring him back. At least I know to save my money, I will laugh with this fails. I’d rather watch Tom Welling on smallville.
I most curtainly agree bring Routh back, or Welling,think a little harder on the cast for Parry White, and make the the costume a bit brighter, this is not dark like Batman.
Finally Bring Kevin Spacey back as Lex Luthor, because Zod was in Superman 2, and he’s dead.
Let’s remember guys that Superman was “True Blue American” not English.
look for all u peole that are superman fans be honest it sucks for a live action movie. this is 2011 and the audience wants to see something real out of Superman for a change like a real villian with some depth an the ability to whoop up on him and give his character some depth. no one to see dealing with only lex l;uthor thats so lame an whack, he a mortal really how is that going to work. why cant superman go up against doomsday or darkside in this new movie really push him to the limit and stop all this flying around to sniff up and save lois lane everytime u turn around thats just has gotten so old DAMN make a real villian.

Perry White as black? Well, no superhero movie can have an all-white cast these days and expect to succeed at the box office, even Stateside. And the increasingly small number of metro newspapers, being liberal and geared toward an urban audience, have black staffers at the higher levels. Think Atlanta-Journal-and-Constitution.
The big question for me is whether Superman will get to promote truth, justice, and the American way, or whether it’ll be truth, justice, and “all that stuff” again.
Also, instead of doing Luthor and the Phantom Zone villains over and over again, why not finally have Brainiac or Bizarro as the main villain?

Need new villains for Superman. The same enemies gets tired after time.
Honestly who cares if Perry white is black? As far as the picture well he looks very tough in comparison to Routh.
Come on guys lets stay true to the classic characters
,and lets bring back Routh, or atleast get Tom Welling.
As for the villains why not have Lex Luthor team up
with Brainiac and together make Bazarro, now that’s

,not a reboot.
The Superman costume worn by Henry Cavill for 2013 isn’t exactly as good as the classic Christopher Reeve version from the first four films of the 1970s and 1980s but still it’s better than the ugly Brandon Routh version from the 2006 flop, Superman Returns.
The Adam West batsuit from the Batman TV series which aired between 1966 and 1968 is average, the Michael Keaton batsuit from 1989′s Batman and 1992′s Batman Returns is impressive, the first Val Kilmer “Panther” batsuit from 1995′s Batman Forever is very good although I’m not sure about the second suit which is the sonar version, the first batsuit worn by George Clooney in 1997′s Batman & Robin is good, not too keen on the second “Arctic” version though but I really hate the campy disco armour version worn by Christian Bale in 2005′s Batman Begins and 2008′s The Dark Knight.
I think they should follow. The comic book and keep the same actors in the sequel movies is stupid. To change sh*t.

This is a reboot. And although Routh was wonderful as Superman. His character representation is pretty weak. No bone-cracking fight scene, and his Clark Kent mode is too nerdy unlike what they portray Clark in the animated series. There, he’s like this Ace reporter smart looking who always either gets the headline, or came in second after lois.
The costume is a lot different yes, but give it some time and it’ll sink in. It’s true that I wanted to have other villains like Bizarro, Doomsday, or Brainiac but it’s a reboot. I was expecting to have Lex to at least appear in the movie just as a hating CEO of Lexcorp instead of masterminding criminal activities against Superman. As a reboot, Zod will make a good starting villain, and it’ll be better to have something that make Lex to appear on screen and we can see the progress of being him becoming the villain that we know (which can be elaborated in the next film)
About Laurence Fishbourne as Perry White. Yes, I was a little shocked at first but after doing a lot of thinking. It may not be a bad idea. It’s true that there’s too much caucasian superheroes on screen and we need to install some colors to the actors. Green Lantern has Jon Stewart who’s an african-american ex-marine who became a green lantern. Why not use him instead? Sadly, it all comes back to culture of preferring caucasian actors more than african-american given the choice. But having Laurence as Perry, we may see some interesting lines like “Holy Great Caesar’s Ghost, Superman…”

Cavill as Superman looks cool but Superman vs Zod?Cmon guys you couldnt come up with a better/different villain.What about Doomsday or Darkside even Braniac.Zod’s been done already.I will go watch this movie & I hope its better than the previous one which I thought was very good.Now for this idea of the sun going supernova.Does that mean Superman & everyone on earth die including every other DC Comic hero? Look guys why does a hero like Superman have to have such a terrible ending.For that matter why does a story have to end in a trilogy?Cant you keep Superman going like The James Bond Movies?Bring in some serious villains like the ones I mentioned with some great writers for your storyline add in a nice budget & Superman will never get old.Lets think this thru before you end a good thing.
1st this is a reboot (start of of a new series by new people).
2nd you cannot have Doomsday as 1st villian you have to build hyp. Was joker the 1st villian in the latest batman trilogy? Lets see the movie and see how they movie it forward. As for the costume too dark and where is the “S” curl in his hair. Not a slicked back Fonz look
