Comedy Movies 2012 – Guide

– OCTOBER –

Butter
Starring: Yara Shahidi, Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, Alicia Silverstone, Olivia Wilde
Director: Jim Field Smith
Out: 5 October 2012

Latest Comedy Movies 2012
In small-town Iowa, an adopted 10-year-old girl (Shahidi) discovers her talent for butter sculpture and finds herself pitted against the ambitious wife (Garner) of the reigning champion (Burrell) in the annual competition. Butter carving has put the winner on Oprah and in Parade magazine so the reigning champion’s wife sees it as their way into big time politics. Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde plays a stripper, which may interest some of you. Hugh Jackman has a small role as a local car dealer. From the director of ‘She’s Out of My League’, this is pitched tonally somewhere between ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and ‘Fargo’. It seems it doesn’t quite have the cast or the buzz to make much of an impression. [Critics: 34%] [Public: 5.9] – Mediocre

Pitch Perfect
Starring: Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson
Director: Jason Moore
Out: 5 October 2012

[Critics: 77%] [Public: 7.2] – Ranked: 4th Best

Here Comes The Boom
Starring: Kevin James, Salma Hayek, Henry Winkler, Charice, Bas Rutten
Director: Frank Coraci
Out: 12 October 2012

Best Comedy Movies 2012
Action-comedy from the director of ‘Zookeeper’ and ‘Click’, about a dedicated physics teacher (Kevin James) who takes up the dangerous job of mixed martial arts fighter in the hopes of raising enough money to rescue his school’s music program and his friend’s job. I guess this will make an interesting companion piece to ‘Warrior’. It’s safe to assume Kevin James isn’t working out for the role. If you enjoy seeing James spun around and squeezed between muscular thighs then this is going to be quite the cinematic treat. [Critics: 43%] [Public: 5.9] – Mediocre

Seven Psychopaths
Starring: Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson
Director: Martin McDonagh
Out: 12 October 2012

A screenwriter (Farrell) struggling for inspiration for his script, ‘Seven Psychopaths,’ gets drawn into the dog kidnapping schemes of his oddball friends, one of whom is an actor (Rockwell), the other a religious man with a violent past (Walken). This takes a turn for the worse when a gangster’s (Harrelson) mutt goes missing – He’s a man who’s unpredictable, extremely violent and wouldn’t think twice about killing anyone associated with the theft. ‘Seven Psychopaths’ comes from the director of the well-liked ‘In Bruges’. Sounds like this’ll have a similar feel, and will probably develop cult status too. [Critics: 82%] [Public: 7.3] – Ranked: 3rd Best

I’m up for The Watch mostly cause my friend plays the alien and he’s funny as hell.

A Fantastic Fear of Everything grabs my interest … but that’s about it. Everything else feels done before.

Ooh, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in a movie together again? That alone makes Silver Linings interesting, I thought Limitless was great.

I don’t think butter is mediocre. I watched it and even though it doesn’t make you laugh, it has a very good even great message. A must see for everyone.
