Noah Vs. Robocop? Which Will Russell Choose?
3.02.12 # Remake # 5 Comments
Russell Crowe is an actor with his pick of the projects, and it seems as if he might have a mighty interesting choice ahead of him, as rumours in the last couple of days have linked him to the title roles in both Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical opus Noah and Jose Padilha’s remake of Robocop, a movie which for a long time was actually being developed by Aronofsky.
Crowe will be seen on screen next year in a high profile role, with him following in the titanic footsteps of Marlon Brando as he takes on the role of Superman’s super-poppa Jor-El, in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Man of Steel. And while it’s been a few years since Crowe scored an honest-to-goodness blockbuster smash, demand for his services is still high in Hollywood.
Darren Aronofsky, for one, is apparently an admirer and the Black Swan director has supposedly settled on the Gladiator star as the perfect candidate to play the role of Noah in his planned two-by-two movie (Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender had previously been linked to the gig). Incidentally, the same reports pegging Crowe as Noah also suggested Liam Neeson was up for a role in the film. Hopefully as a lemur (Lemur Neeson, y’see?).
That rumour duly sparked another, with Variety writer Jeff Sneider tweeting that Crowe was also a possibility to don chrome-dome and tin trousers in MGM’s Robocop remake, which Elite Squad director Jose Padilha is currently prepping. Having been played by Peter Weller originally, the role of Alex Murphy/Robocop has since been linked to Chris Pine, Michael C. Hall and, somewhat inevitably, that man Fassbender.
Would you rather see Crowe on the beat or in the boat? Let us know!

If he chooses Robocop I’ll tuck into a nice meal of my own shoe.
I Think Russell would make a great Noah! My vote is on Noah!!
If he chooses either, he’ll choose Noah. I would LOVE to see him droid it up in Robocop though.
He’d never take a role that covers most of his face.
And I have to say, I love love love LOVE Aronofsky films … but I have no desire to see a Noah movie.
I’d pretty much check out any Russell Crowe movie but would really like to see a new Robocop movie, it’d have to be good though, still like the first two alot
