The Hunger Games – Latest Clips

The Hunger Games Movie - News Clips
Man, The Hunger Games has got it all, has it not? Teenage melodrama enacted by a good-looking cast for the gals, sci-fi setting and arrow-twanging action for the guys, and a predicted monster opening weekend for the suits at Lionsgate. Still that expected hit status can’t be taken for granted; hence why the drip-drip feed of the Hunger Games publicity machine must proceed – via new clips galore.

For me, tracking is something that Native Americans in westerns are really, really good at. For movie executives, tracking is an information-gathering process the results of which indicate how big their new flick is going to open. And if we adhere to the latter definition, then The Hunger Games has been tracking like Matt Tracker on crack. The suggestion is that the movie, based on the young adult novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, is going to draw $100m at the box office when it opens on 23 March.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth (the latter pair narrowly passed over for the roles of Spider-Man and John McClane’s son respectively), The Hunger Games centres on a dystopian America (renamed Panem) in which teenagers are forced to fight to the death as televised entertainment. Direction comes from Gary Ross, the man behind Seabiscuit and Pleasantville.

All clear? Good-o. Now on to the clips. First up is a fresh TV spot, showing a general mix of highlights from the movie.

Appearing at the tail of that last spot was Lenny Kravitz, playing the role of Cinna, stylist to Lawrence’s Katniss. And the next clip shows the first meeting between those two characters.

One last clip to see us all off to bed with, namely ‘Team’, in which amongst other things, we get lots of looks at the various outlandish wigs which Hunger Games is predicting will be BIG in any dystopian future.

I read this book the other day. It was excellent. Essentially an American version of Battle Royale written for a slightly younger (though bloodthirsty) audience.

Genuinely great read. Can’t wait to see how they balls it up.

It might still be if they do a bad job of it. The novel has a heck of a lot going for it. All they need to do is maybe show more of the rest of the Games. The novel’s first-person perspective means that a huge amount of action is lost. Twelve people bite the big one in the opening seconds of the Games, but Katniss only witnesses one.

        So, yeah. More violence, basically.

        Twilight is still sh*te though.

Don’t we sound a little too bent over the hype! because I think this movie has a lot of people who are really interested in seeing kids killing each other for food.
Frankly I think it should be rated “R” well trick me.
