There’s been some Avengers 2 talk over recent weeks, so what has been said and what direction is the sequel likely to go in?
The Avengers is shaping up to be an enormous financial hit. After just two days at the foreign box office it’s taken $36 million and broken records, including the third biggest opening day in British history. In the US, it’s tracking at one and a half times the pre-sales of all other Marvel Studio movies – combined. Which means it’s going to open somewhere in the range of $160-200 million. Audiences have rated it an extremely high 9.0 on IMDB, and 96% of critics like it or love it. I’ve seen the movie, and it has a much higher rewatchability than other superhero adventures – expect significant repeat viewings after a huge opening.
All of which means a very large financial incentive to press forward on a sequel. So what can we expect from The Avengers 2? Firstly it will almost certainly add to the team. Stan Lee doesn’t have creative input but he’s said he’d like to see Black Panther, Dr. Strange or Ant-Man join up. There’s been an Ant-Man standalone movie in development for some time, and more recently a Dr. Strange movie is on the boil. Ant-Man and Wasp seem like very likely additions as they have been an almost permanent feature of Avengers comics in recent years. Don’t expect to see Spider-Man join though, as those movie rights are likely to stay at Sony for a considerable time.
Producer Kevin Feige is in creative charge of the movies and says that Marvel’s upcoming movies will fit together as another set of films leading up to the Avengers sequel. Iron Man 3 “will be the first of what we refer to as phase two of this saga, that will culminate in Avengers 2.” He also mentioned that a Dr. Strange movie could well fit into this second phase. All of which means that the Avengers follow-up won’t hit theaters until 2014 at the very earliest, with 2015 more likely.
Who will be the villain? **AVENGERS SPOILER** The Avengers end credit scene introduces us to Thanos, who smiles when he’s told that to attack Earth is to “court death”. Thanos in the comics is fascinated with death and nihilism. He kills millions on his home planet with nuclear bombardment before travelling to earth. He is capable of superhuman strength and can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets. His most famous storyline sees him gain possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, recently glimpsed in the Thor movie (in Odin’s trophy room). Each gem of that gauntlet grants its bearer complete mastery over one aspect of the universe: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, or Power. We know that Thanos is not a villain in Iron Man 3, and appears unlikely for Thor 2. So it’s fairly safe to assume the set up is for the next Avengers movie. ** END SPOILER **

The movie was badass I hope they do the sequel wich they most likely will and they should use spiderman in his iron spider suit and black panther ant man wasp

or if the amazing spiderman fails they could sign spiderman to marvel make the spiderman 4 with the original cast and save him for the avengers 3
Avengers was amazing!!! I’ve been doing some research on the avengers 2… haven’t gotten far tho… I want the silver surfer to be in the movie…anyway… Fantastic four can’t join because… Johnny in F4 is Captain America in Avengers… sure we could take Johnny out, but it wouldn’t be the same.. Also… Thanos… never heard of him till last sunday but so excited… he just sounds evil… I hope they add more superhereos… that would be sick!… Anyway.. That’s all I have to say…
I think that putting in too many superheroes,will ruin the on screen chemistry unless you were going to do a three hour movie there would be no good in adding every superhero in the comics. Spiderman could not hold up,in avengers the thing with hulk cap a thor and iron man,is that they are all, pretty evenly matched. Spiderman, wouldn’t fit in well,there. If they add someone which they should it should be black panther. That,is, just my opinion
Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Miss Marvel, Wasp, Ant-Man, Ronin, Dead Pool, Black Panther, Silver Surfer, and Fantastic 4. cant get any better.

hmm…everyone has great ideas, hows this..I think what they should do is again build up the anticipation for the sequel…think about this, when it comes to comics turn movies, they kinda overexaturate (sorry for wrong spelling)the story or characters..for exapmle the juggernaunt in the third x-men movie…anyway if they make THOR 2, have like someone else steal the infinity gauntlet and at the end it is handed to thanos…for iron man 3, the villian could be crimson dynamo…lm not sure about the others, but if they did do a black widow, captain america, hulk, or hawkeye movie then to build up the plot for new members of the avengers 2 have black panther, wasp, and antman be in it…for the avengers 2 movie, have like thanos have not only an army of his own but also a “successor” to him…ld like to see beta ray bill battle against the avengers which makes kinda sense for thor to return to earth. meanwhile have antman create the “ultron network” and program robots to help aid the avengers against thanos’s army. At the end of the avengers 2 movie then you’ll see one of the ultron robots eyes turn from like blue to red indicating the begining of another avengers sequel. Now thats just my opinion…HEY HERES AN IDEA, JUST FOR LAUGHS, HAVE TERRY CREWS AS LUKE CAGE!!
err…. i think they should try to bring black panther,Dr.Strange and captain and miss marvel.
Addition of black panther and Dr.Strange would be too dope to handle if know these characters you would know how awesome it would be to rope them in although ant-man wasp war machine are the obvious choices.
no chance of spidey or wolverine coming in although everyone knows it would awesome but people its nearly impossible.
I wish too see spider man in the next movie and also (just for the sheer awesomeness) BLADE, why? I’m not sure, he seems pretty awesome and to see him in a war like situation like the first installment, would be pretty interesting. I’ll also like to see the x-men join up because they just dissapeared and why not bring them back?
