The Avengers 2 – Sequel Plans

There’s been some Avengers 2 talk over recent weeks, so what has been said and what direction is the sequel likely to go in?
The Avengers is shaping up to be an enormous financial hit. After just two days at the foreign box office it’s taken $36 million and broken records, including the third biggest opening day in British history. In the US, it’s tracking at one and a half times the pre-sales of all other Marvel Studio movies – combined. Which means it’s going to open somewhere in the range of $160-200 million. Audiences have rated it an extremely high 9.0 on IMDB, and 96% of critics like it or love it. I’ve seen the movie, and it has a much higher rewatchability than other superhero adventures – expect significant repeat viewings after a huge opening.
All of which means a very large financial incentive to press forward on a sequel. So what can we expect from The Avengers 2? Firstly it will almost certainly add to the team. Stan Lee doesn’t have creative input but he’s said he’d like to see Black Panther, Dr. Strange or Ant-Man join up. There’s been an Ant-Man standalone movie in development for some time, and more recently a Dr. Strange movie is on the boil. Ant-Man and Wasp seem like very likely additions as they have been an almost permanent feature of Avengers comics in recent years. Don’t expect to see Spider-Man join though, as those movie rights are likely to stay at Sony for a considerable time.
Producer Kevin Feige is in creative charge of the movies and says that Marvel’s upcoming movies will fit together as another set of films leading up to the Avengers sequel. Iron Man 3 “will be the first of what we refer to as phase two of this saga, that will culminate in Avengers 2.” He also mentioned that a Dr. Strange movie could well fit into this second phase. All of which means that the Avengers follow-up won’t hit theaters until 2014 at the very earliest, with 2015 more likely.
Who will be the villain? **AVENGERS SPOILER** The Avengers end credit scene introduces us to Thanos, who smiles when he’s told that to attack Earth is to “court death”. Thanos in the comics is fascinated with death and nihilism. He kills millions on his home planet with nuclear bombardment before travelling to earth. He is capable of superhuman strength and can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets. His most famous storyline sees him gain possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, recently glimpsed in the Thor movie (in Odin’s trophy room). Each gem of that gauntlet grants its bearer complete mastery over one aspect of the universe: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, or Power. We know that Thanos is not a villain in Iron Man 3, and appears unlikely for Thor 2. So it’s fairly safe to assume the set up is for the next Avengers movie. ** END SPOILER **

What would you like to see happen in an Avengers sequel? Who should join the team? Should Thanos be the only villain? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

I think that thanos should not be the only villain another one is the super skull because they are both from space and people that should join the team is wolverine, storm, scarlet witch, spider women that’s what I think
As a big fan of marvel I would like to see wolverine go wild in the next sequel…
As for villain… Red skull and want to see captain America very serious…
I would welcome new members to the team but not at the expense of the original team. I don’t want to lose any of the characters we’ve already met in the first film.
It’s okay. They won’t lose them. Will they?
Another ‘great big war film’ is only going to disappoint. The next one has to be character based. I’m calling Sentry – as both hero and ultimately the villain (he’s just too darn powerful to be a regular hero) – used akin to Harvey Dent/Twoface in The Dark Knight.
I think Thanos should team with some other villains of marvels and he can be the captain of supervillains. Like: The dark avengers! How about that for avengers 2?
Thanos should stay behind the scenes until they can introduce Adam Warlock or Draxx…Theyu need to fight the Masters of evil lead by Loki..Enchantrees etc…or kang from the future will introduce time travel
I think that no other team members should be added….but Thanos would be a good villan
I got another idea to introduce new-heroes to put in the movie.
Cyclops, Spider-man, Daredevil, Wolverine, Thing, Giant-man, Hulk, Hercules, Iceman & Iron-man. How about that for a idea for a 2nd movie?
The Avengers are not strong enough to beat Thanos with the characters from the movie. They would need tro add Adam Warlock, Draxx the Destroyer and Ultron before he turn evil…That would give the team the cosmic strength it takes to hurt Thanos..
They dont have to join the team, just help…Like Ms Marvel is strong…
I don’t think so. Not even ms. marvel. No way!
I think captain marvel should join the team. Like he’ll be new to the team in the 2ND movie. He hasn’t been into shows or movies since in the late 40′s. Somebody need a new actor to play captain marvel. I have a idea! James Denton. The one who plays mike in desperate housewives. He has a handsome body and he’ll be good for captain marvel! And face it, We need James to be in a new movie and play a superhero in the avengers 2. Don’t let James Denton down & don’t let captain marvel down. Please. I’m begging you.
I’m not suggesting directions in which the Avengers Movie should go, but I think it would be interesting to see Ironman in his Hulkbuster suit.
Antman and Wasp should at least make a cameo but I think they missed their chance.
But Dr. Strange should be introduced in the Avengers 2 and maybe in that mysterious “extra” movie Marvel has planned.
Black Panther should make an appearance in Captain America 2, maybe helping the Captain battle the Winter Soldier. He’s busy taking care of Wakanda so I don’t think he’ll have time for the Avengers 2.
If Sony/Fox allows, Spiderman and Wolverine could make a cameo, of course that would call for a little generosity on their part.
After spider-man and wolverine comes out with their movie spider-man and wolverine, along with the X-men, should be added to the avengers; it would be the best movie EVER!!
Guys.. ever Since im a huge Marvel Fan.. Actually we see Thanos in the end of the Avengers the movie smiling. But when we speak about Thanos it means its about the Infinity Gauntlet and if its about the infinity gauntlet its about marvel universe.not only avengers.these means almost all the heroes and villains of marvel struggling to take the power of the gems just like in the comics.
Wrecking crew. And why not the vision.
