There’s been some Avengers 2 talk over recent weeks, so what has been said and what direction is the sequel likely to go in?
The Avengers is shaping up to be an enormous financial hit. After just two days at the foreign box office it’s taken $36 million and broken records, including the third biggest opening day in British history. In the US, it’s tracking at one and a half times the pre-sales of all other Marvel Studio movies – combined. Which means it’s going to open somewhere in the range of $160-200 million. Audiences have rated it an extremely high 9.0 on IMDB, and 96% of critics like it or love it. I’ve seen the movie, and it has a much higher rewatchability than other superhero adventures – expect significant repeat viewings after a huge opening.
All of which means a very large financial incentive to press forward on a sequel. So what can we expect from The Avengers 2? Firstly it will almost certainly add to the team. Stan Lee doesn’t have creative input but he’s said he’d like to see Black Panther, Dr. Strange or Ant-Man join up. There’s been an Ant-Man standalone movie in development for some time, and more recently a Dr. Strange movie is on the boil. Ant-Man and Wasp seem like very likely additions as they have been an almost permanent feature of Avengers comics in recent years. Don’t expect to see Spider-Man join though, as those movie rights are likely to stay at Sony for a considerable time.
Producer Kevin Feige is in creative charge of the movies and says that Marvel’s upcoming movies will fit together as another set of films leading up to the Avengers sequel. Iron Man 3 “will be the first of what we refer to as phase two of this saga, that will culminate in Avengers 2.” He also mentioned that a Dr. Strange movie could well fit into this second phase. All of which means that the Avengers follow-up won’t hit theaters until 2014 at the very earliest, with 2015 more likely.
Who will be the villain? **AVENGERS SPOILER** The Avengers end credit scene introduces us to Thanos, who smiles when he’s told that to attack Earth is to “court death”. Thanos in the comics is fascinated with death and nihilism. He kills millions on his home planet with nuclear bombardment before travelling to earth. He is capable of superhuman strength and can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets. His most famous storyline sees him gain possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, recently glimpsed in the Thor movie (in Odin’s trophy room). Each gem of that gauntlet grants its bearer complete mastery over one aspect of the universe: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, or Power. We know that Thanos is not a villain in Iron Man 3, and appears unlikely for Thor 2. So it’s fairly safe to assume the set up is for the next Avengers movie. ** END SPOILER **

i think wolverine should join upin the next avengers movie.
I have a great idea: Hulk, Captain America, Iron-man, Spider-man, Wolverine, Thor, Captain america & Black Widow.
Ok i jst read da 1st page of da comments and im,hmmm,surprised at wat everyones saying.ummm,well War Machine wasnt in da 1st Avengers movie coz hes not an Avenger,hes a New Avenger lol.so are Spiderman and Wolverine.da nxt movie may have Black Panther,Ant Man,Wasp (maybe) and probably well actually i think dats all 4 now haha (dats how i see it coming together).Thanos is a beast so i dont think if Doctor Strange took him on he would defeat Thanos.well,2 me if there is a Fantastic Four reboot and theyre going 4 a mash up,then it’ll happen in Avengers 3.and maybe they’ll include Luke Cage,Spiderman,Wolverine,War Machine and the Vision coz dats how da comics go.so hopefully we get 2 see how this all works out aye.God bless guys and girls.
The biggest and most fatal mistake hollywood makes is that when it has a hit, it throws together another movie with several villains. Make the next move with one good villain and a good well thought out story line.
i would like Batman to join in the group, cos he is so talented and a daring guy who always never give up…
um u relise batman is dc part of the justice league and the aavengers r marvel rightit would not make sence for batman to join the avengers
Yeah. That’s a point if you wanted batman to be in it. Maybe he can be in the avengers 3. Which is dc comics and marvels can come together.
I think that Daredevil sould be added to the avengers movie along with War Warmachine and Electra. Then the villan should be Red Skull who joins with Thanos and KingPin. Just My Opion.

i think thanos would be a good villian but also they should bring the scroll in and bring some of the bige heroes in from all over the marvel universe for a big fight

I have been hearing people saying there might be spiderman in the new one!
I think hellboy should be added and mark ruffalo should be removed and eric bana should be added for the hulk
I think that the avenger should go up against the masters of evil
They have a huge role in the comics plus it would look cool to

Avengers vs Masters of Evil could stand up to any comics movie ever made.
First of all: The Avengers is WOW. It is an amazing movie.. but back to what I was going to say..
It would have been amazing to see Spider-man, Batman, The Green Lantern(Justice Leauge really, at least some of the members) etc. meet up with the Avengers and join them. Imagine Ryan Reynolds, Christian Bale and Toby Maguire in this movie too!! THAT would have been crazy..but if it’s not possible, I think Avengers 2 is going to kill it anyway! SO hyped for this movie.. too sad it comes out in 2014/15.. at least Iron Man 3 comes out in not that long time! Woho.

Well, I read over here, and saw that Justice Leauge isn’t owned by Marvel or something? So.. never mind. But Spiderman would be cool! ONLY if Toby Maguire plays him.. He is the original and best one(at least after my opinion, haha).
its thanos ok i new this b4 i seen him at the end its goona be wicked in the commics he kills alot of the avengers cant wait to see what the outcome of this is
Spider-man & Thing should be there!
Because,They’ve appeared against Thanos in the comic.
