The Avengers 2 – Sequel Plans

There’s been some Avengers 2 talk over recent weeks, so what has been said and what direction is the sequel likely to go in?
The Avengers is shaping up to be an enormous financial hit. After just two days at the foreign box office it’s taken $36 million and broken records, including the third biggest opening day in British history. In the US, it’s tracking at one and a half times the pre-sales of all other Marvel Studio movies – combined. Which means it’s going to open somewhere in the range of $160-200 million. Audiences have rated it an extremely high 9.0 on IMDB, and 96% of critics like it or love it. I’ve seen the movie, and it has a much higher rewatchability than other superhero adventures – expect significant repeat viewings after a huge opening.
All of which means a very large financial incentive to press forward on a sequel. So what can we expect from The Avengers 2? Firstly it will almost certainly add to the team. Stan Lee doesn’t have creative input but he’s said he’d like to see Black Panther, Dr. Strange or Ant-Man join up. There’s been an Ant-Man standalone movie in development for some time, and more recently a Dr. Strange movie is on the boil. Ant-Man and Wasp seem like very likely additions as they have been an almost permanent feature of Avengers comics in recent years. Don’t expect to see Spider-Man join though, as those movie rights are likely to stay at Sony for a considerable time.
Producer Kevin Feige is in creative charge of the movies and says that Marvel’s upcoming movies will fit together as another set of films leading up to the Avengers sequel. Iron Man 3 “will be the first of what we refer to as phase two of this saga, that will culminate in Avengers 2.” He also mentioned that a Dr. Strange movie could well fit into this second phase. All of which means that the Avengers follow-up won’t hit theaters until 2014 at the very earliest, with 2015 more likely.
Who will be the villain? **AVENGERS SPOILER** The Avengers end credit scene introduces us to Thanos, who smiles when he’s told that to attack Earth is to “court death”. Thanos in the comics is fascinated with death and nihilism. He kills millions on his home planet with nuclear bombardment before travelling to earth. He is capable of superhuman strength and can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets. His most famous storyline sees him gain possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, recently glimpsed in the Thor movie (in Odin’s trophy room). Each gem of that gauntlet grants its bearer complete mastery over one aspect of the universe: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, or Power. We know that Thanos is not a villain in Iron Man 3, and appears unlikely for Thor 2. So it’s fairly safe to assume the set up is for the next Avengers movie. ** END SPOILER **

What would you like to see happen in an Avengers sequel? Who should join the team? Should Thanos be the only villain? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Black panther definitely………and the skrulls and super skrull
I hope it’s Ant Man and, or Wasp. I do not wish for Black Panther, just because of extreme violent rhetoric of the current black panther “organization”. There needs to be nothing of the sort that will fuel any further racial strife, and black panther himself got pretty militant in the comics.
Thanos, are you kidding? that guy is more monstrous than Hulk, i read in one of the marvel comics when these two face each other, Hulk got launched half way around the earth with one punch by Thanos, leaving Hulk unconcious, but Hulk is the man. Anyway, since Marvel studio is still in progress with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, they should start working on “Planet Hulk” sequel where Hulk was sent to Sakaar, well you guys no the rest, and also leading to World War Hulk and hopefully “Skaar” son of Hulk.
Black Panther will definitely be in the next Avengers movie but before doing so, a movie about him should be made first which will take place in Uganda, Africa. Same goes for Ant Man and Wasp. And folks Spider-Man will not be taking part in the next sequel, but he will be in Avengers 3 or 4 and definitely World War Hulk when he actually wearing a black costum, i dont know about Hercules and the rest but there are tons of characters involve in this movie because there are different teams of Avengers in the Marvel comics if any of you folks read it.
i would like to see couple of the x-men in the sequel as well as the fantastic 4. As for the villains, it would be quite “overpowered” but still possible to defeat, if they included M.O.D.O.K with Thanos to destroy the world. Also they should have minor avengers DIE in the sequel (War Machine, Black Panther etc), that way the “good guys” dont get a 100% victory.
The sequal to Avengers should include Black Panther, Ant Man, Wasp, and Spiderman. It could be easily done to fit all of them into the next movie. Especially with this new Spiderman movie coming out.
BRING SPIDERMAN!!!!
or bring some of the xmen!
Yes spiderman. But expect, I want wolverine, not the whole x-men team.
I hope they don’t add TOO many characters just one or two would he fine. anymore would ruin it. i LOVED avengers (just got done watching it)i would be just fine if they kept the normal team there is now. sucks we have to wait at least 2 years for another
CAN’T WAIT!! best superhero movie I’ve seen in a while.
i hope they would work in the Leader into the Avengers sequel. We saw him transforming in the last Hulk movie, and with his high intellect, he would be a great villian partner to Thanos
at some point Marvel will probably “jump the shark” and come out w/ a Marvel Ultimate Alliance movie. Imagine it, the Avengers, the X-men, Spiderman, Blade, Ghost Rider, the Fantastic Four and every other Marvel hero vs. all the Marvel villians.
What a awesome idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not too many more heros, just the original avengers. They also need to lose some Of their innocence. The avengers are superhumans, if they hit you you will die or be severly wounded. Especially when you have people like the hulk. People must die. That’s what made batman such good movies. On a similar note, did anyone notice that when the aliens were bombing NY they were missing every single living thing. Disney could have at least made people disappear behind the resuming explosion.
I want Loki back, but not as the main villain. Hiddleston did such a good job portraying him…
It depends on what happens in Thor 2, but it’d be great if Loki ended up helping the Avengers in some form. That’s what i want anyway.
Loki is too interesting and complex a character to be pushed into the ‘villain box’ forever or become made into a stereotypical villain…
you guys will be angry if they didnt add a new avenger for the sequel movie??
BTW.. sorry for my bad english=(
Overall, I loved this movie the characters didn’t over shadow each other. The only thing I wish was in there was war machine..I know he’s not officially apart of the team but he is like the other side of the coin to iron man. At the very least a brief appearance. The other thing I’m mad at is with Sony. The wont let spiderman take part of the avengers, which is the characters given right. I’m willing to bet if they also had spiderman in the move I guarantee the profits would be higher..at the end it has to be thanos and not super skrull, because super skrull is the combined power of fantastic four, also he was never introduce. Thanos is the better fit vilian.
DAMION POITIER will impersonate Thanos…check him on facebook.
