Michael Bay Says New TMNT Are Aliens

The pizza-loving, ass-kicking, wise-crackin’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are due back at cinemas next year, but this time with an alien origin…
The original 1984 comic books by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird spawned a hugely popular animated series in the late 80s/early 90s – with an endless range of merchandise. This then led to the live-action trilogy of films from 1990-1993; with 2007’s animated TMNT being the turtles’ last big screen outing.
Now the beloved franchise is set for a live-action revamp, with none other than Michael Bay producing. Speaking at 2012 Nickelodeon Upfront, Bay commented: “When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist… These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable.” It was confirmed earlier this year that Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles/Wrath Of The Titans) will direct the project.
There you have it. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo will be back – as pet shops brace themselves for a massive increase in Terrapin sales (and also possibly elderly mentor rats).
How do you feel about the turtles being aliens and not mutated products of the ooze? Sacrilege?!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is (provisionally) due for release on 25th December 2013.
Here’s what happened last time they were in space -

The director of Battle: Los Angeles? I’m out. See you at the next reboot.
From aliens? I love aliens just as much as the next person but…
BOOOOOOOOO!
This is terrible news. You don’t change everything. They are not aliens!!! Michael Bay is messing up another franchise. He’s obsessed with aliens now. This isn’t Transformers you idiot. This is gonna make a lot of people upset, including myself.
Michael Bay said he’s building a richer world. I seriously doubt it, how rich was Transformers??? lol He just made a sh*t ton of money and no one is gonna tell him no right now. He thinks he’s a genius, but he’s not. His storytelling is terrible.
To be fair to him, don’t many of the TMNT villains come from space? Maybe, just maybe, he means the ooze that transforms the turtles comes from another galaxy. …Although looking at his comments it seems pretty plain that the turtles are themselves aliens.
Remember when the ending of Terminator Salvation was leaked and everyone got so angry that they changed it? Maybe that’ll happen here.
He rewrote the Battle of Britain and the Doolittle raid even before he arrived at Pearl Harbour. He’s beaten classic horror movies to death. He’s angered Transformer fans and now he’s gunning for the Turtles! Is nothing safe from this man’s evil tentacles of banality?
You know, this three year old article from The Onion seem particularly apt with this one: http://onion.com/cvUcrl
Michael Bay has to realize that if you treat the audience as idiots, then idiots will be your audience
bay is r*ping our childhood >:(
omg…. how can someone who deviates so much from original…what i grew up wit…..is still getting these types of film….it will be thundecats next!!!
Not interested, sounds like a lame flop!
Its a shame that they are planning on making the turtles aliens. I think that if they stray to far from the original story linee of how they were created it might put some people off, but then on the other hand you cant judge untill we see. Im just glad that they are gonna be back on the big screen
They are called MUTANTS For a reason. Not aliens! Don’t ruin it with alien bs!
