Total Recall Remake – Full Trailer
2.04.12 # Trailers # 6 Comments
Following on from Total Recall’s teaser-teaser (-teaser?) trailer last week, the official trailer has now been released online.
With the Mars setting for the story completely scrapped (instead set in the middle of a fight for supremacy between two new Earth nations), it’s action-heavy and the futuristic setting looks very impressive indeed. Although it does kinda look like we’re watching the trailer for Minority Report all over again…
As you’d expect, the core of the story is very similar to Arnie’s original 80s Total Recall: Douglas Quaid (this time, Colin Farrell) lives a boring life as a factory worker and senses he was meant for something more. He goes to ‘Recall’; a company that have your fantasies virtually implanted into your memory. He wants the ‘secret agent’ package… But then – holy crap! Something goes wrong with Farrell’s session and he ends up beating his way through an armed response team. How did a ‘factory worker’ manage that?!
Now hunted by the police and ‘wife’ Kate Beckinsale, Farrell teams up with Resistance fighter Jessica Biel as he begins his own hunt for the truth.
My hopes for an Arnie cameo as one of Colin Farrell’s disguises – a la the fat lady costume Quaid wears as he goes through security in the original – seem to be dashed… Also “Get your ass to Mars” now seems out of the question too. But with Len Wiseman directing (Underworld, Die Hard 4.0) an action-heavy take on the story is certainly playing to his strengths…
Sci-fi, action, great effects, futuristic car chases, action, Bryan Cranston, did I mention action?! What do you guys think? Looking forward to it?
Total Recall will be released August 3rd in the US, August 22nd in the UK.

Still miss Mars. Chinatown is no substitute.
Can’t decide if your idea of having Arnie as a disguise is brilliant.
You know full well this is a brilliant idea.
They put a lot of money into it. By the looks of the trailer, it would appear they’re not going to get too risky with changes to the original story.
Jessica Biel in a fist fight with Kate Beckinsale will make this the greatest movie of all time.
Has anyone read the original book We Can Remember It for You Wholesale? It would be interesting to know how closely it matches up with this
I just saw the trailer and it doesn’t look too bad, but is it just me or does it seem alot different then the original, because if I’m not mistaken the one with “Arnold” had things like mutants.
I take it that they’re not having any aliens or mutants?
I don’t believe there are aliens or mutants in this version. They exited with Mars.
