G.I. Joe Sequel Slides To 2013

G I Joe sequel delayed
You may be able to please some of the people for some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Except when it comes to post-converting movies into 3D – then everyone and their cat is never happy about anything. Latest movie to fail to evade the general wrath is G.I. Joe: Retaliation, just announced as having been delayed nine months in order it can go stereoscopic.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation had long looked set to be Paramount’s big gun in this summer’s box office battle, particularly after it became apparent that Star Trek II had no chance of surfacing before 2013.

And the studio had done a reasonable job of stoking up anticipation in the wake of Stephen Sommers’ miserable first Joe movie – thanks to the signing of Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to pen the script, and blockbuster blockheads Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis to bolster the action credentials of the cast.

Trailers and posters were duly released, and a viral campaign got underway, all ahead of a release date of 29 June. However Paramount has taken the decision to yank Jon Chu’s movie from its schedules, in order that it can be given the 3D treatment which so divides online film fans (some hate it, some REALLY hate it).

Assuming it won’t slip again in order to be converted into 4D, G.I. Joe: Retaliation will now arrive in cinemas on 29 March 2013.

They knew this movie is going to stink and decided to move it back to where it won’t have any action movie competition and can collect more off the 3-D. Someone figured out the movies before will still be taking cash in and the next week is Spiderman.

This is a strange one. 9 months delay so soon before it was due to be released when fan buzz was not terrible. How much money did they spend on marketing that will now largely have been a waste, especially since it all has the wrong year on it. 3D can’t be the only reason, no way. P.S. I liked aspects of the first movie, some of the action was surprisingly well filmed.

I did’nt think the first movie “Rise of Cobra” was bad in my opinion it was pretty good.
It started the storyline, so they could build from there.

I think it’s a little disappointing that they decided to move “Retaliation” to 2013.
I wish it was coming out this year.

I see Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes, as any childhood fans of G.I. Joe know, are two characters that have always been mysterious, so exploring them more might really give this film greater depth than the trailer would lead you to believe. Fingers crossed.
