DC & Marvel’s Newest Movies? Justice League & Black Panther
7.06.12 # News # 15 Comments
Today has brought news of movement on the long-gestating Justice League movie today, with the revelation that the quest to adapt the DC Comics super-team for the big screen has enlisted a fresh screenwriter. Meanwhile, rumours are circulating that Marvel is preparing to announce its next character to break into their own movie, with this being none other than the Black Panther.
Will Beall has already scripted the hotly-tipped Gangster Squad for DC parent company Warner Bros. and his are the writing skills which have been pressed into service of the Justice League movie. The JLA should, of course, have made it to the screen a few years ago, only for that iteration (due to be helmed by Mad Max man George Miller) to crumple in the face of a writer’s strike.
But although DC’s main funny book rival, Marvel, has enjoyed massive success by feeding solo superhero movie outings into the team extravaganza that was The Avengers, the rumour has been that DC/Warners would do the opposite with the JLA, keeping it at a remove from individual franchises such as the Christian Bale-starring Batman.
Could Warners really bear, however, to use a Justice League film as a prospective springboard for separate movies starring Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman et al, given that failure would strangle a whole raft of potential franchises in one fell swoop? That, after all, was one reason why Wolfgang Petersen’s Batman vs. Superman stalled early in the 21st century.
While Warners mulls over its options, Marvel is able to forge right on ahead in the wake of The Avengers’ record-shattering adventures. The sequel to Iron Man is already shooting, and follow-ups to Thor and Captain America will follow hot on its heels. But the studio still has release slots lined up for two as-yet unannounced features.
One of which will surely be an Avengers sequel, and the other is now being reported as The Black Panther, a character who is both an Avenger himself and African royalty to boot. Hailing from the kingdom of Wakanda, the Panther had previously been due to come to the silver screen with Wesley Snipes in the lead role, only for that project to never come to fruition in Snipes’ box office lifetime.

love these type of movies. just wondering who will play Bruce W/BATMAN?
I think that Warners should try to make a “Justice League” movie rather than focusing on individual movies like Marvel has been doing.
It’s about time that DC and Warners jumped on that band wagon, so that they can get some of those gold rings.
ya but is BALE going 2play Bruce W/BATMAN
Bale has said in the past he’d only play Batman in a Nolan movie, and I think he said directly a Justice League movie wouldn’t interest him. Whether an enormous cheque and a sinking career would change that, who knows.
“if” BALE doesn’t play the role, would u know who?
It’s way too early in the process for anyone to know. They won’t even have talked to Bale yet.
When they tried to make a different version of The Justice League a few years ago they cast Armie Hammer as Batman. But that doesn’t mean he’d be in the running now necessarily.
who is tat??
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2309517/
He played the twins in The Social Network, and will shortly be starring as The Lone Ranger alongside Johnny Depp.
I would suggest Julian McMahon as Batman if he’s able to do it, but that’s just an idea.
If not than maybe Josh Duhamol, or maybe
Gabrielle Macht he played “the Spirit”,perhaps.
As for the villains, if they do have a Justice League movie I would suggest either the Legion of Doom, or Darkside.
Julian? is tat the guy who played DR. DOOM n the FANTASTIC 4?
Yes he was, he can also be sharp looking and dark at the same time.
the Bat has to sound like a badass. period. no if ands or buts about it. julian mcmahons vocal portrayal of Dr.Doom was a complete and utter joke. he sounded like bruce wayne should sound.a playboy fop. not a monarch looking for dominion over the entire earth. he’s a good actor and plays a reprehensible p.o.s. to the hilt but Batman he isnt. there are too many other unknowns out there that they could build a new franchise around. that way it would be completely about the character from the start.
yes, i agree he is a good actor, i remember him n “CHARMED.” wasn’t their going 2b another F 4 movie w/him n it? he would make a “real good” BATMAN..
Allow me to correct myself I meant to say “Gabriel” Macht, he played the Spirit.
