Taken was an excellent action-thriller, like a Steven Seagal movie acted by De Niro. It was a huge hit too, so now comes the slightly-unnecessary-but-we’ll-watch-it-anyway sequel, Taken 2.
This time it’s Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) himself who gets the bag on the head, along with his wife (Famke Janssen) who somewhat inexplicably is no longer a total bitch. I guess because we have to want her to be rescued. It’s up to their daughter (Maggie Grace) to avoid capture and help Bryan escape to inact his revenge.
All of this villainy is orchestrated not by internet meme ‘the most interesting man in the world’ -
(explanation)
- but by the father of one Bryan’s victims from the original.
The dialogue doesn’t seem as sharp this time round with lazy entries like “This is not a game” and “I will finish this thing” making it to the trailer. With a different director too I don’t expect it to be as good as the first, even if his name is Olivier Megaton.
Taken 2 is out in the US and UK on 5th October.
i love 1st Taken and i think this is a great sequel. i’m not gonna miss this.
I think that even though the story of Taken 2 is obviously not going to be as deep and emotional as the first. Its still going to have some great action and star an always great actor to watch in Liam Nesson. I say give it a try i know im going to:-)
I will. I only said it wouldn’t be as good as the first. The director isn’t as skilled, and the dialogue in the trailer isn’t anywhere near as memorable as in the trailer for the first one. But Liam Neeson has been excellent in recent years and I have no doubt this will be decent at the very least.
