Ghost Rider 2, National Treasure 3

Nicolas Cage has caught a bad case of sequelitis.

First up, he’s keen to do Ghost Rider 2. Ghost Rider made a suprisingly large amount of money, but once the tills stopped ringing most came to see it for what it was – a fairy weak movie. Cage says “All they have to do is call, and I would love to see that happen.”

But it gets worse. Not content with ripping off The Da Vinci Code a couple of times, he wants to make National Treasure 3. “I’d like to do ‘International Treaure’. To go into Africa, Egypt, Asia. My hope is that Ben is recruited and he gets a dossier from these other countries about their history, and has to download it and learn it. That would be a lot of fun for me.”

Hm. Is learning a dossier on the history of Africa a good time at the movies? What happened to the glory days of The Rock and Face Off?…

I am a HUGE Cage fan but I have to agree Ghost Rider was a weak movie. I watched it 3 times to make sure I really didn’t like it. The only part I liked was Cage. It was really too bad. But sometimes bad movies are made.

I would like a N. Treasure 3 but it wouldn’t make sense to do an international one. Then you couldn’t call it National Treasure. We already have The librarian for international type story lines. Plus it is good for us to work on stories with our history. It is just as important as world history.

They need to cast someone better than Cage like Steve Austin or the villian from XXX.

I don’t know about the Ghost Rider follow up. The first one wasn’t all it could have been, but I didn’t dislike it. As for National Treasure, that was an awesome movie and the second one was even better. And whoever wrote this little article really needs to do his or her homework before he or she tries to sound like they know what they are talking about. National Treasure came before The Da Vinci Code. If anything, The Da Vinci Code ripped off National Treasure. But that doesn’t even make sense because movies have nothing to do with each other as far as story goes.

The Da Vinci Code as a book existed long before National Treasure, and was a phenomena. The producer saw the best selling books doing huge numbers and decided that rather than buy the expensive rights he would do his own rip off version. Congrats to him, it worked, he made a lot of money.

OK, I will admit that I made a mistake on the dates, but my second statement still stands. National Treasure being a rip off doesn’t make sense because the two stories aren’t even similar. I don’t understand how you can compare a treasure hunting movie with a religious conspiracy movie. I don’t have a problem with The Da Vinci Code, I thought it was a good movie, but the two shouldn’t be compared.

  • Sheridan Passell said:

The concept is the same as Da Vinci in that it’s an adventure story based around taking famous art and objects and reading new information into it that propels the story, eg Mona Lisa (Da Vinci Code), Dollar Bill (National Treasure).

i dnt think ghost rider was a weak movie but in coming sequels somethings which were left unclear can be made up and also cage did his job fine weak part was in villian it must hav been a bit tough and rough…

  • CF said:

Really?? Why would they make a sequel to that horrible movie… I couldn’t stand to watch all of the first one and this will be one movie I won’t even THINK about going and seeing….

I never saw Ghost Rider so I can’t comment on that one. Implying that National Treasure is a bad movie because it is similar to The Da Vinci Code is like saying you shouldn’t make Batman because it is similar to other superhero movies. I think both National Treasure 1 & 2 and The Da Vinci Code were engaging and entertaining. I would really like to see a National Treasure 3.

a ghostrider 2 would definitely be better because the first had to set the charaters, origins, and story, just like a prolouge in a book. also, a nat. tre. 3 would also be great because if america has a few secrets, then logic says that the ENTIRE WORLD would have at least 10 times the secrets.
