Nightmare On Elm Street Remake Shooting In 2009
14.12.08 # News # 25 CommentsWith test screenings for Friday The 13th reportedly going down “great”, Warner have officially given the green light to another beloved eighties horror classic.

“Hi.“
Producers of Friday, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have now confirmed Nightmare On Elm Street is a go, saying, “It’s our next movie, hopefully shooting this spring.”
“It’s like what we’re doing to Friday the 13th. It’s not Freddy cracking jokes. We want to make a horrifying movie. The concept is so scary, don’t fall asleep or you’ll die. This guy gets you when you’re most vulnerable, in your sleep. We love that. That’s the basis of the movie. It’ll be most similar to the first one but in terms of kills and dreams we’ll borrow from the entire series.”
That’s a relief. Freddy’s been a very strange horror villain – not only managing to keep surviving long enough to return for seven sequels (VS Jason counts), but also morphing from terrifying dream-controlling child killer to hilarious comedy anti-hero. It’s good to know that the producers thought that was a bit shit too. The remake is being penned by Wesley Strick, writer of Cape Fear.

I think that its bullshit, that they are now making another version of the classic, but worse to horrify the next generation of children that wont be able to sleep. Thats my comment: IT IS BULLSHIT, THE CLASSIC WAS GOOD SO DONT DESTORY IT! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
A FAN OF HORROR FILMS!!!!!!!!!!1
dooooont do it!!!!!dont destroy a good movie to make a piece of crap.billy bob thorton can never live up to roert england.as a horrorfan its a insult and dissapointment
I think they are crazy to mess with this classic film and make it more horrifying that is just gonna pile on the cheese. LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!!!!!!
Thats fucking Dumb why the hell would you try to recreate one of the best horror films ever made its fucking stupid whoever thought of it is fucking stuuuuuuuuuuuuupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
uhmmm this is a new one, u know someone said why make it so scare the next generation of kids?? uhmm hello why are u letting kids watch it in the first place crazy people sorry that is just me, I never liked the originals I thought they were dumb excuse me but thats just me. I mostly just laughed through the whole thing or gagged at the amount of “FAKE” blood they used in the films, so hey I say if u can make it better go ahead and show us whatcha got bring it on I will go see it if they make it
I love horror movies and not much scares me or my BFF so if u can make it super scary then I say go ahead and “TRY”.
I disagree with the remake and have signed a petition against it, not that it will stop production of it but, it will let many know that we stand behind the original making and that there will only be one Freddy Krueger as far as we see it and that’s Robert Englund… Freddy may have said some one liner jokes but that is what helped form the character and helped make A Nightmare On Elm Street what it is today. “Robert Englund is and always will be, Freddy Krueger…” I don’t believe Wes Craven should have allowed it to be remade.
i would love a remake but only with robert englund!
if they pull this off with robert englund maby there will be a new future for the series
i think that if they were going to do this remake that they do it right, have much more of a backround story about how he turned into what he was, not just be.
go more into his past, i know that they reviled that he was a child molester, but you never actually knew why he did that.
what the hell man i think this whole new shit will be awsome so enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why not make a sequel insted?
i hope i will be 3-4 sequels

I would love to see more nightmare on elm street movies, but i have to agree that Robert Englund is Freddy. No one could ever out do him. I wont support the film in theater but i will check it out on bootleg. comment for lee Freddy’s mother was raped in a mental institute. Thats were son of ten thousand maniacs came from. freddy’s dad mentally and phisically abused him his whole life and all the other kids picked on and beat him all the time. He just snaped
Finally the producers got it rite , no more jokes , no more comedy,
real horror, thats the way the first freddy was in 1984
Lets get back to the drawing board,
This is going to work!!
Hopefully they bring back robert ,
he is the original freddy , keep it old school and you will have a hit!!!!
FINALLY!! SOMEBODY GOT IT RITE!!!
CANT WAIT !!!!
SIGN 80s fan!!!!!
Holy crap this is gonna be AWSOME!!!!
My friends and I have recreated the classics to scare the daylights out of our friends, their friends, our extended families, and any other person crazy enough to sit through one of our Halloween shows for over 25 years now. I have watched and studied the original movies and stories until I can almost recite every line from the Jason Vorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Hellraiser, and numerous other 1970’s, ’80’s and ’90’s classic horror genre. I too was very skeptical about the remakes coming out. When I heard they were remaking Friday the 13th, I was disgusted at the thought of another horrible sequel like Jason X.
Then, I saw the work the same guys did on Texas Chainsaw Massacre, WOW! They forgot their vision with The Beginning, but over all a terrific remake. When the great stories get retold with improved visualizations, special effects, and a well rounded and thought out story all combined with a team that is dedicated to the true essence and feel of the original series and not just the blood and gore factor; then I ask you, how we can go wrong? Those of you who have condemned this project are entitled to your opinions. Yes I would love to see Robert Englund back as well, but let’s face it folks Zombie Strippers was not some of his best work now was it? All I am saying to anyone opposed to the idea of the remake is this; examine the other works these individuals have done before damning the process.
Personally, I think Rob Zombie would be the ideal choice of directors to head up such a monumental undertaking as the revisionism of Freddy Krueger. His retelling of Michael Myer’s story in the remake of Halloween was a masterpiece of modern film making. He has demonstrated that he can be true to the original fear and terror that gripped us all way back when, while introducing a new element and level of fear into the story that will have you sitting up late again trying to stay awake.
I say good luck and best wishes to the team willing to undertake this task that will be truly monumental. After all, replacing Freddy will be a lot more daunting than replacing the men in the masks right? Just always remember that one of the most goose bump inducing scenes that you will have to be able to recapture completely and utterly convincingly are the little girls signing;
1 2 Freddy’s coming for you!
3 4 better lock your door!
5 6 get a crucifix!
7 8 better stay awake!
9 10 never sleep again!
If you can recreate that edge of the seat gripping, nail biting, dreading the next sound that you hear feeling the way we felt it then go for it. I will wait to reserve my judgment based on the results, not the fear of change that Lucas and Spielberg have instilled in the movie viewing community.
It’s just a god damn remake starting from scratch. What is so wrong with a new generation of a classic horror movie? Especially one so great as A Nightmare on Elm Street. If you’re going to sit here and compare on what this new generation of freddy and classic freddy differ then you’re fucking pathetic. Producers and film makers are being open minded with these ideas of classic remakes. Yes, we all have seen terrible remakes of movies that have come out pure shit. You should know the writers and directors are going to go balls out and work their asses off on making people who think a remake of this film(and others) is going to suck ass but instead scare the shit out of them and blow them out their fucking seats. No shit.
Do know that the recreations of these films is something that they want viewers to be open minded about. A freddy fan as much as I am, I know that this new nightmare is going to be something unforgettable.
