First Official Image From Kick-Ass 2

Kick Ass 2

Feast your eyes on the first picture from the hotly-anticipated sequel, featuring Jim Carrey (and dog) in full superhero attire.

The picture, featured in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, shows Jim Carrey as mafia-turned-vigilante Colonel Stars and Stripes, who appears to be deep in conversation with Kick-Ass. Notice also his canine companion, who will no doubt be assisting him with, well, kicking some serious butt.

Given that Kick-Ass 2 is based on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s follow-up series of comic books, we already have an idea who will be popping up. We know that Colonel Stars and Stripes teams up with Kick-Ass to form a real-life superhero group called ‘Justice Forever’. Red Mist will also be returning but operating under a new guise – “The Motherf**ker” – and commanding his own team of supervillains to take on the good guys.

For the sake of those who haven’t read the comics, we’ll stop there. But Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Never Back Down) is directing this time round with Matthew Vaughn co-producing. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse will all be reprising their roles and be joined by Jim Carrey, Donald Faison and John Leguizamo.

Kick-Ass 2 arrives in theatres June 28, 2013. Get those tacky superhero suits at the ready.

Looks great so far. Poor dog having to work so close to the smell of sausages.

Super excited for this. Kick-Ass is one of the most entertaining, original films I’ve seen in a long time.

Very much looking forward to this. Though it is making me hanker for a Watchmen prequel; would love to see “The Minutemen” made into a movie one day.

I’ll watch this, but I’m not entirely sold.
To me Nic Cage as Big Daddy and Mark Strong’s vilain were far more interesting characters than Kick-Asss, Hit Girl and Red Mist.
