Star Trek Into Darkness – International Trailer & New Poster
21.03.13 # Trailers # 2 Comments
The final frontier is getting closer, as the crew of the USS Enterprise Star Trek Into Darkness, and take the rest of the world with them, in a little over a month when the movie hits screens worldwide. The marketing is ratcheting up a little – there’s a new poster AND a new trailer AND a couple of new stills as well. You’ve seen the first new picture above, so feast your eyes on the trailer and more below (lookout for an homage to Dr Strangelove):
It sure looks like a worthy successor to the 2009 film in terms of thrills, and it’s interesting to hear Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain “John Harrison” (sarcastic quotation marks because there’s still a distinct possibility we’re being deceived about his true identity) possibly being referred to as an agent. Not an officer, like most members of Starfleet, but an agent. It brings Section 31 to mind, the black ops arm of the Federation. Could director JJ Abrams, the man behind Alias and M:I-3, be putting a little espionage in our spacefaring saga? It would be an interesting corner of the Trek Universe to explore, and adds yet more mystery to Cumberbatch’s character. The whole Space!Terrorist thing is a little less sci-fi than you might expect from Trek, hopefully they explore the villain’s clearly superhuman abilities too.
Then there’s the new poster. The phaser wielding trio up top should look familiar and now we get to see Cumberbatch standing in rubble from a different angle. Exciting!

Great to see Peter Weller back in a big budget sci-fi, he still rules.
The plot appears to be rather similar to Skyfall, according to this trailer.
I just saw the trailer, and it looks good.
It looks like this movie has a little bit of everything,
Sci-Fi, espionage,heroes, and a villain.
