Jurassic Park 4 Put On Hold9.05.13 # News, Sequel # 5 Comments
The fourth Jurassic Park movie, which was scheduled for release in June 2014, has been put on hiatus – but it’s not facing total extinction just yet.
The story started on Twitter yesterday with a few tweets from members of the JP4 crew strongly suggesting that Jurassic Park 4 was over before it had even begun. Concept Artist Dean Sherriff wrote, “JP on hold” while the film’s digital assets manager Todd Smoyer tweeted, “Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4″.
The tweets have since been deleted, but the news was later backed up by fansite JurassicPark4-Movie, which explained that the film was not cancelled, but just on hiatus. It did say, however, that the reason for the problems was due to some “conflict” between the studio and some of those involved in the film.
Soon after that, Universal sent out an official press release to clear up what was going on.
“Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise,” it read.
So how long will we have to wait? No new release date has been announced, meaning it’s anyone’s guess right now. But hopefully this mess will soon be sorted out so that Jurassic Park 4 isn’t left as nothing more than a fossil of development limbo.
