Dan Aykroyd Talks Ghostbusters 3 Plot22.05.13 # Sequel # 2 Comments
For a long time now, Ghostbusters 3 has been all talk – mostly from Dan Aykroyd – and no action, but a few new plot details give us hope that production might finally be about to get underway.
Of course it was Aykroyd again who dropped the information. Speaking on Larry King Now he opened up a little on the plot of the third movie, which will focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters.
“It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University,” he told King.
“I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four panes of existence – length, height, width and time – become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters, new Ghostbusters, have to come and solve the problem.”
The bad news, however, is that it’s looking even more unlikely that Bill Murray will make a return appearance as Peter Venkman, though Aykrod added, “If Billy wants to walk in the door and be in the movie, we will find a place.”
So there you have it – a vague plot outline for the third Ghostbusters movie that we’ve been waiting, oh, almost 25 years for.
If everything goes to plan, the movie is said to be aiming for a 2014 release date. Ivan Reitman, director of the first two films, is expected to reprise his duties once again.
We want this to be good, we really do, but would it be better for Aykroyd and co to accept that it’s not meant to be and move on? State your opinion below!
