Colin Trevorrow Talks Jurassic Park 4 Plans4.07.13 # News, Sequel # No Comment
Production on Jurassic Park 4 has been a bit stop-start, but director Colin Trevorrow has hopefully calmed some anxiety by promising that the film will be given the treatment it deserves.
Although the film has been pushed back from a 2014 to a 2015 release, the wheels are back in motion, and Trevorrow is keen to make sure that fans of the older films are satisfied with the fourth outing.
“We don’t want to create a new scoop here, but we definitely want to honour what came before us,” said Trevorrow, who was hesitant to give any further plot details away.
However, Trevorrow, who directed indie hit Safety Not Guaranteed, said that moving onto such a big blockbuster project wasn’t actually as much of a leap as you might expect.
“Surprisingly it’s not that different,” he said. “We have a very small team who we’re working with right now. It’s incredible to have Steven [Spielberg], who’s done this for decades and has such an incredible filmic knowledge and this understanding of the language of story – in a way that for us, is very refreshing. It’s not like getting notes from a studio executive.”
Trevorrow is clearly aware of the colossal number of Jurassic Park fans out there, and is determined that his entire team is treading carefully every step of the way.
“We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie,” he said, “and we talk about it all the time and really the conversation is: It’s not about us, it’s not about our careers, it’s how do we make something that can stand with the first one.”
Let’s hope to hear some more positive news on Jurassic Park 4 soon. After all, trevorrow is another day.
