Lance Armstrong Biopic To Star Ben Foster

Lance Armstrong Movie
Ben Foster (Contraband, 3:10 To Yuma) is to step into the cycling shorts of Lance Armstrong for a film based on the record breaking athlete’s controversial life.

The project will explore Armstrong’s record seven Tour de France titles, his battle with cancer, and the controversy surrounding his doping, which came to light in 2012. The biopic will be adapted in part from Armstrong’s autobiography ‘Every Second Counts’, written in 2003.

It’s in good hands with Working Title Films, the producers of Senna, Rush and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Stephen Frears (High Fidelity, The Queen) will direct.

It looks like it will be the first of several rival Armstrong movies to get in front of cameras. Warner Bros are developing something with Jay Roach (Game Change) and writer Scott Z. Burns (Side Effects). While Paramount has J.J. Abrams’ production company adapting biog ‘Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong’, to potentially star Bradley Cooper.

Expect this version to be out next year.
