Ben Affleck To Play Batman In Man Of Steel 223.08.13 # Sequel # 6 Comments
Ben Affleck has been cast as the Dark Knight for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, which will bring the two superheroes together on screen for the first time.
Snyder won’t be doing another Batman origin story, however, as it seems like the film will be going for the older, fully-formed Batman that’s more in the style of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
“He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” said Snyder in a statement.
Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill who will reprise the role of Clark Kent/Superman. Of course, the news has been met with some pretty extreme reactions online. But then, let’s remember how people reacted when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker for The Dark Knight.
The likes of Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling had previously been rumoured to be in the running for the new Batman role. The film is yet to get an official title, but Batman vs Superman is looking like the strongest contender right now.
Production will begin next year with a July 17 2015 release date currently set for the film.
