James Spader To Play Ultron In Avengers Sequel30.08.13 # News # 5 Comments
Joss Whedon has cast his villain for Avengers: Age of Ultron, with James Spader taking the role of the titular villain.
Rumours have been circulating that Jarvis, the Iron Man’s armour AI voiced by Paul Bettany, would be become the villain for the second Avengers movie. But Whedon and Marvel have confirmed that Spader will be stepping up.
Spader, famous for appearances in Pretty in Pink and Sex, Lies and Videotape, seems a slightly odd choice for the role, but perhaps his track record of eccentric performances is exactly what’s needed.
We’ll have to wait a while longer to know for sure – the press release gives little indication of what the role will entail. For now, we at least know that Tom Hiddleston is a fan of this casting choice.
Joss Whedon will return to direct, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson joins the cast as character Quicksilver. Elizabeth Olsen is rumoured to be playing Scarlet Witch.
Avengers: Ago of Ultron arrives on May 1 2015.
