Peter Jackson To Shoot Tintin Sequel After The Hobbit

Peter Jackson has confirmed that he will go on to make a sequel to The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn once work on The Hobbit has wrapped up.

Steven Spielberg previously confirmed that a script for a second movie already exists, adding that he hoped the film would be out by Christmas 2015. But that was several months ago and we hadn’t heard much since then.

However, speaking to BadTaste.it, Jackson stated that a Tintin sequel is on its way – but it won’t be until after The Hobbit is done and dusted.

“As soon as I’m free of The Hobbit, I’ll be going back into doing Tintin,” he said. “It was held up by The Hobbit, but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie and it’s just waiting on me to be done with these Hobbit movies.”

Given that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug arrives in cinemas this week, and that the third film will follow a year later, that 2015 target might start to look a bit too ambitious.

Plus, that release date would also put Tintin up against Star Wars Episode VII, and we’re not sure that even he’s brave enough for that.

To be fair I haven’t watched the first one, but why are Spielberg and Jackson so obsessed with making a trilogy of it? Does anyone else really care?
