Ridley Scott Says Blade Runner 2 Is Written

Ridley Scott has revealed that Blade Runner 2 has been written, and he sounds pretty pleased with it.

Scott confirmed that he hopes to begin production when he’s finished with his next project, The Martian, which is slated for a November 2015 release. He also plans to direct the Blade Runner sequel, if all things go as planned.

“It’s written and it’s damn good,” stated Scott confidently. “Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years – despite the accident. So yes, that will happen”.

By accident, Scott is undoubtedly referring to the injury Ford recently suffered on the set of Star Wars Episode VII. However, whether Ford will be onboard for Blade Runner 2 or not, remains to be seen.

Scott also went on to confirm that his Prometheus sequel has also been penned, but gave no indication on when it may go into production. “That’s the problem,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of ducks in a row. But they’re all written.”

They better hurry up. Ridley (77 years old) and Harrison (72) aren’t going to be around forever. Even if the script is pants, just seeing this world brought back to life with modern tricks should be spectacular.

I just hope that it’s more on par with the original than something like Prometheus.

The thing about Blade Runner is that it flopped and was kept alive as a cult movie. It’s a landmark film but the story was secondary to the style. Philip K Dicks novel is in a lot of ways is better than the film.
I think the sequel will be made but it will flop again because it is still basically a cult thing.
