Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack

Who Wants To Be A Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack owner? I do.
First off the bat; I like this score. The movie (nominated for 4 Golden Globes and a hot Oscar contender) is a smart premise that has a director who approached it smart. It needed an intense driving score to accompany it. A.R. Rahman delivers that and much more. I’m not sure what you’d call it… Indian Electronica? Indian Street Techno? Whatever it’s called, it works like hell for this film.
On first listen, it really started to remind me of 1998’s Run Lola Run merged with 2002’s City Of God. Both films share similar themes with the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. A.R. Rahman pulls of the perfect mood for the films urban slum setting and ping-ponging of time. The man is a composing machine. He’s scored over one-hundred films in sixteen years. He’s probably finished another one as I’m typing this.
The Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack is an extremely layered score that probably can’t be absorbed in one sitting. In my opinion, that’s how it should be. Soundtracks should be listened to over and over, each time hearing something new. This has that potential. The M.I.A. songs are an acquired taste (that doesn’t really matter because she’s hot). It’s not the greatest film score, but it’s definitely unique enough to stand out on its own.

Danny Boyle doesn’t get enough credit for the soundtracks he puts together – he’s one of the best in the business. Trainspotting, The Beach and 28 Days Later all have incredibly evocative and memorable song picks.
This needs a few listens, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Slumdog Millionaire is right up there.

Please tell me the name of the young child who sings the song before the time Mamman blinds him, and then again when Jamal finds him in the train station. I love the way he sings that song. Where can I find that song? Why isn’t it on the soundtrack?
