Ridley Scott takes on the the story of Moses with his latest epic, Exodus: Gods and Kings. Find out whether this new interpretation ranks on a par with The Ten Commandments or The Prince of Egypt.

Exodus: Gods and Kings is out now in the US and UK.

As someone who’s somehow not seen The Ten Commandments, I enjoyed it as an experience. It’s hard not to watch it through the modern prism of ‘Do I believe this actually happened?’ The plotting is also hampered by the original story which doesn’t hold together all that well, especially Pharoah’s actions which aren’t all that logical. I found the kid representing God was a cop out and his acting quite amateurish. A chance for an epic confrontation was completely missed. Otherwise, decent performances and some amazing visuals, such as the river of blood.
