Terminator Salvation: Arnie Still In Cameo Talks

Not a day goes by when I don’t flip-flop on the issue of whether or not I’ll be seeing Terminator Salvation when it explodes into screen on May 21st. On the one hand, the first two films were cinematic masterpieces, exercises in maintaining tension, fear and incredible action for as long as possible. The third film was a bit of a wet fish, but I truly loved the ending. Now we’re gearing up for the fourth film and the start of the second trilogy… I still don’t know where I stand on it.
Thank God, then, for McG. Seemingly knowing the enormity of the task ahead of him, he’s pulling out all the stops to make it worthwhile. Including, it seems, trying to get Arnie himself to appear in the movie in some way…
Sci Fi Wire has the latest from WonderCon -
The governor has seen the film, McG added, and said it’s a matter of the governor’s speaking with his staff to see if it’s appropriate. “He saw the film two days ago, and I’m scheduled to see him this week,” the director said.
McG added: “Truthfully, it’s not clear. It’s not clear. We’ll see where we land. I mean, he’s a very powerful guy, he’s got to do what’s right for him. You know what would be helpful is if all of us collectively put a little pressure in a couple of e-mails saying, ‘Hey, we think it would be a good idea.’ I mean, we’re not getting any blowback or any resistance; I just kind of respect that the guy’s the governor of the state of California, and he’s got to go back to his advisors and ask them, ‘Hey, is this a good idea?’ And you never know if they’re going to go, ‘No, we’ve done the numbers, and it seems to suggest that people will feel uncomfortable if the governor is dabbling.’ Who knows? Who are we to guess?”
Will it save the movie though? It’s expected that the role will be a small one, with rumours suggesting that Arnie’s face will be imposed over the top of Roland Kickinger’s. It would be nice, create some continuity and all that.
What do you guys think?

It would be a much younger version of Arnie, taken from old footage presumably, so really it’s just a day’s voiceover work. If he can cameo in Stallone’s new film, he can damn well cameo in this.
Well done to McG for getting the right people on board this project. He’s after Linda Hamilton too for a voice over at the beginning.
Also they better get a move on, the movie’s out in a few weeks and the Arnie face-mapping sounds pretty challenging…
Wait, wait, wait. Mason – you’re saying you might not even go to see this because you liked the previous movies a lot?
You are backwards: arse on face, face on arse.
McG is very charismatic, and I have to admit all the footage so far looks fantastic. The real question is the story. The third one sucked on a story level. The action was good, the female terminator was alright … it was the damn story. John Connor wimps out an a veterinarian falls in love with him so they run and hide while the world blows up?
How is THAT building upon the first two films.
Fingers crossed and here’s to hoping.
I hate veterinarians, so difficult to cook for.
