Hancock Reviews – Dodgy

hancock-movie-picture

The Hancock reviews are in, and they’ll probably make Will Smith want to get drunk and damage the city. Originally titled “Tonight, He Comes”, the script for Hancock floated around Hollywood for a decade. During that time it passed through the hands of directors Tony Scott, Michael Mann (who opted to direct Miami Vice instead) and Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3). It’s ended up with Peter Berg, director of the, underrated, exercise in poor taste Very Bad Things and last year’s uneven The Kingdom.

Here’s what the critics are saying:

Variety

“This misguided attempt to wring a novel twist on the superhero genre has a certain whiff of “The Last Action Hero” about it, with Will Smith playing an indestructible crime-buster in a pointedly real-world context… his foul language treads the very edge of PG-13 permissiveness and will no doubt catch many July 4 weekend kid-herding parents unhappily unaware… [In the second half] mind-boggling gaps of logic come to the fore.”

Hollywood Reporter -

“One suspects that the movie’s problems stem from the multitude of cooks who toiled on the project… Somewhere along the way, a sharp black comedy lost its bite… The best comic book movies develop a rigorous and logical mythology. As “Hancock” races toward its spectacular but muddled finale, it keeps rewriting its own rules in an effort to pander to the audience.”

Fox News -

“A 150 million dollar disaster…one of the worst family holiday weekend releases of recent memory… it clocks in at a mere wisp of one hour and 20 minutes.”

The only hope it gives me is that it offended Fox News.

Hancock currently holds a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Thank God for Fox news so we have something else to watch that is far more fair and balanced than your f**king lame liberal ass.

I’m amazed that you could even put Fox News, fair, and balanced in the same sentence, unless you were playing that “One of these things is not like the others” game from Sesame St.

These reviews are the complete opposite of what was on my mind as I left the theater an hour ago. I felt that this was a fantastic movie with great comedy, intense action, and a complex story that changes the way you see each of the characters. The ending was dramatic and it worked for me and many others. I don’t understand how the critics (sans Fox News) can hate on this movie.

I do not understand what movie the critics were watching, this movie was amazing comedy drama twist and action, it looks like Hancock should help the critics remove each other from there fellow critics ass.

I have just started to go to the movies that the critics (esp fox news) say are bad and leave the ones that they claim were good. I actually get to see the good movies tthat way. Hancock was great!!!

I’m not trying to offend anyone, but if you couldn’t see where this movie was going from the moment Theron’s character was introduced, then you must have had to take one big, long trip to the bathroom. The plot was overly transparent, and the acting mediocre (except Smith, who was as good as ever). However, there was more than enough action and comedy to at least make it a movie worth seeing once.

This was an excellent film. You critics need to get of of your asses and get a real job. I cant wait till i get my bootleg copy.

Hancock was awesome fun from start to finish. Will Smith is one of the best actors of our time. I’m glad I took my girlfriend to go see this film.

Critics are never right anyway, their critique of a movie does not appeal and is out of touch with the rest of the people/world movie goers :o )

Critics who debate whether a movie is good or not is nothing but a waste of time.
