Bioshock On Ice!
28.04.09 # News # 3 Comments
As awesome as a stage musical with whirling Big Daddies and skating Little Sisters would be on ice, this article is about the possible cancellation of the Bioshock movie. Sorry everyone.
It seems that Universal has suddenly gotten cold feet over the budget of Gore Verbinski’s adaptation, with estimates reaching up to $160 million. Because underwater utopias set in the 1940’s don’t come cheap.
This is potentially a gut punch to Verbinski, who turned down the massive cash cow Pirates of the Carribean 4: Pirates on the High Seas, Ho! Ho! Ho!
Gore says of the decision, “We were asked by Universal to move the film outside the U.S. to take advantage of a tax credit… we are evaluating whether this is something we want to do. In the meantime, the film is in a holding pattern.”
Universal state that this film is not going to become another Halo, which has been famously cancelled by both Universal and Fox over budget problems. The studio claims that the decision is more like the one that affected Ridley Scott’s upcoming Robin Hood movie, which was delayed on and off for over a year while the budget was wittled down to a much more affordable $130 million.
I guess we’ll just have to wait a little longer for the big screen Bioshock.

cool, verbinski can do better
c’mon Bioshock would be amazing if done correctly
I think if they make a bioshock movie it would bring in a bunch of money. also why would they stop making this movie so far into production, i say universal should keep making it. for all of our sakes.
