Christian Bale turned himself willingly in to London police after charges of assaulting his mother and sister in a London hotel. Bale cut a deal with authorities to voluntarily surrender the following morning so he could attend the London premiere of his new film The Dark Knight.

This is shocking news, coming on the heels of the wild success of his latest film and the fact that most Hollywood gossip sources list him as one of the nicest guys working in Hollywood. Let’s hope we don’t hear similar news about Hugh Jackman, pictured below fighting with his wife:

Hopefully this whole thing is a misunderstanding and that we don’t overdose on irony, given the entire point of The Dark Knight is Batman’s struggle with internal conflict and violence.
