The Mummy 4 – Sequel Plans

The Mummy 4 - Sequel Plans

“I don’t know when, but it’s going. [There will] absolutely be The Mummy 4.” So says Maria Bello, who plays the new (and improved?) Evelyn in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Bello says she’s looking forward to three more Mummy movies, revealing she’s already signed on for the Mummy 4, 5 and 6. Luke Ford, who plays son Alex, is also signed for three more. Of course, it all depends on the gross of the latest instalment.

The Mummy has become increasingly globe-trotting. With the third movie set firmly in the Far East, the question is where will The Mummy 4 head off to next? Bello wants it to “take place in the Amazon”, while director Rob Cohen says “We now have it clear that the Mummy franchise can travel. If we want to go to Mexico or we want to go to Peru, we can because there’s a cultural truth there of the mummies and these beautiful cultures… The Aztec culture had a lot of mummies. I think that somehow that might make the basis of a good story.”

Where would you like The Mummy 4 to be set? In Mayan culture? Perhaps voodoo themed? Back in Egypt?

There is also an, unsubstantiated, rumour that the Alex character is being geared up to replace his father Rick (Brendan Fraser) as the main focus of the series.

Should Alex take over the franchise and leave parents Rick and Evey at home?

I think Imhotep should return in forth one. Maybe to help O’Connels or to fight another mythical being like he did in #2(Scorpion King)

I think another Mummy Movie without Brenden Fraser would be useless. All movies without the original star becomes very weak, and loses the appeal on the Big Screen. I realize that Brenden has gotten fat and won’t catch the ladies eyes. But if he takes his job seriously. He would do something about that big gut. Yes the series should travel and show us different parts of the world.
If Harrison Ford can still do it, so can Brenden Fraser.

I guess they didn’t learn their lesson, leaving Rachel Weisz out of Mummy 3. It was painful to watch any interaction between Brendan and Maria Bello, there was absolutely no chemistry If they leave out her and Brendan Fraser this time the movie
        will be a disaster

Good point. It’s hard for me to think of the Mummy series without him.

wow, people just do not like change. i thought the idea of the mummy set in china was great and different. egypt is way overplayed in the movies and on documentary television. i think peru or mesopotamia would be good for a next one as well as the peat bogs of denmark which host neolithic mummies. the mummies of the taklmakan desert in asia would be interesting also.

Enjoyed the 3rd mummy but definately not as good as the first two. I really hope that Rachel Weisz would come back to revive the part of evy. Maria Bello did alright but Rachel Weisz definately brings so much more to the roll in every way. I dont care where the setting for 4,5 and so on are, just get the casting right.

I absolutly agree with this get the casting right Rick, Evie and Johnathen leave out the sexual inuendo’s (the first two where just right, no getting kicked in the genitals or sexy nighties, they were spot on with the first two passionate but brief, and just the occasional kiss nothing much else.)But if they started with them they should finish with them Alex can join but not take over, they can place the mummy any where and make it a hit but as long as they have the original cast DONT change that! PLEASE PLEASE….

I think that Brendan Fraser (Rick) should continue to have the lead role. I personally hate it when an actor is replaced when the audience has come to associate him/her with the part. It is amazing how similar the “new” Evey’s voice was to the “old” Evey’s. The similar voice offered a sense of continuity. I am a big fan of the Mummy series, but I didn’t enjoy The Scorpion King nearly as much because Rick, Evie, and Jonathan weren’t part of it.

I hope we don’t have to wait as long for the next Mummy movie to come out. Looks like plans might already be in the works to wake up the dead in Peru.

I think they should bring back the old Evy and the setting should take place in Peru because at the end of the 3rd movie they said, a few months later mummies were found in Peru so they need to continue the way they ended the 3rd movie

Basically i enjoyed the 3rd installment of The Mummy, although my only flaw for the film is the lack of other “morphs” Jet Li can do..i thought he could shapeshift into 3 creatures as per earlier Internet rumors..But even without Imhotep, Oded Fehr and Rachel Weisz, this 3rd installment still rocks..Alot of people think that the Mummy is only confined in Egypt, but in reality alot of older mummies are found in other parts of the world..However, having a 5th and 6th installment would put totally the series nowhere..After the probable setting in Peru for the next film, where would it shift next? Back to China? Japan? Africa? Ireland? or maybe even in the Philippines? The Philippines also has it own share of Mummies, called the Fire Mummies…

If i were to ask, i think a 4th installment would put a great storybook ending to the films…and a great idea too, as the film pitches an idea to relocate the series to South America…

Oh, by the way, i forgot to mention that Maria Bello handled the Evy O’Conell character well, despite not nearly looking as Rachel Weisz..I think she’s a great selection…

well with that being said the mummy 3 was a great movie, something that had everything from abomidable snowmen to teracota armies and an awesome storyline that was an adreneline fueled thrill ride to the end.

from the first movie there is still some comparisons for this one that kept the first two a box office smash, the first is the o’connell magnet that seems to always end with them on the end of an immortal mummy that can only be killed by the blade through the heart (the mummy returns had that with the scorpion king) and the second is the good guy turning into the bad guy when the professor betrayed alex and helped the sergeant unlock the emporer (the mummy (1999) was benny betraying rick to help imhotep).

the action was good but i agree with some people on the fact that it was not as good as the first two but the originals are always better than the sequels or prequels, and that is not for the fact that rachel weisz was not evie in this one i think maria bello did a great job.

the mummy:tomb of the dragon emporer was great if you want to watch it go to movielab.tv on google.

i cant wait for the fourth it would be good to see it return to its origin and bring back the original mummy along with a new one which would make imhotep help rick and co. destroy the new one.

Ithink they should bring back Rachel W.as Evie. This new one is a real old geiser. And Where is Ardeth Bay. The movie is a million times less funny without him.

I think they should keep all characters because thats what makes the mummy movies exciting seeing a family work together for the greater good.

They can’t exclude Brenden Fraser (Rick O’Conner) from the rest of the series as the lead focus, The Mummy 3 was bad enough with Rachel Weisz. If the rest of the Mummy series is gonna leave out Brenden or give him a small part them the movies might as well be straight to DVD.

if they make anymore mummy movies that they need to bring back the original evelyn oconnel, rachel weisz. i have just recently seen the new movie and it just wasnted as good as the first two without her. the new evelyn and rick just had no chemistry or anything. i like the going to china idea, but i think they need to go back to egypt and maybe go to one other place, but stay in egypt. as for alex taking over rick’s place….i don’t think that’s a good idea either. they started these movies with rick and evie, if they end them they need to end with rick and evelyn.
